Member of the Month HANK ELCHERT
Hank is a familiar face in our commu-nity and beyond. His life has been quite interesting… Married Pat (Keefe) July 5, 1969 right after he finished college. Graduating from Ohio State with his Bachelors and
Masters in Education. Hank then went on to graduate with a degree in Education Specialist from the University of Toledo. Hank and Pat have two children, Connie and Rodney, along with three grandchildren. While speaking to Hank I could certainly tell that he is a very proud father and grandpa! Hank has had a very interesting professional life. In 1969 he was an Agricultural Teacher in Allen Co., and then a farmer for the next 8 yrs. In 1985 he became a Farm Mgmt. and Computer Accountant teacher at Sentinel Career Center, and in 1990 he became a Special Needs teacher for Landscaping and Design class and taught Horticulture. For the next 5 years he was the Assistant Principal and then he became the Principal for the next 10 years. Once Hank retired he was asked to be the Superintendent at Calvert and accepted the challenge. In his time at Calvert, enrollment increased 6 years in a row. He said it wouldn’t have happened without the help from the great staff. Hank’s history with the Allen Eiry Center: His mother used to come here and play cards and she loved it. Once Hank’s wife Pat became a member, he started to come to AEC along with her and he really enjoyed it. The people are nice here and “Nice people attract nice people”, he said. Pat and Hank enjoy going on trips with AEC and cooking. He loves a chal-lenge like cooking the meatloaf dinner at AEC in February! During Hank’s free time he really enjoys fishing and spending time at their boathouse in Sandusky. Hank is a very gentle and kind caring man. I am so glad I was able to get to know him a little better! I told him that he has had a wonderful life and he responded by telling me that he wouldn’t have been able to do it all without his wife. She is his angel, and God has been good to him!

ANDREW MARTIN MAGIC SHOW
WHEN: Wednesday, October 4, 2017
DEPART: 4:30PM
RETURN: around 8:45PM
COST: $43.00 (Dinner included)
Due at sign up
Bob and Mary Tebeau would like to welcome you to
a wonderful dinner including meatloaf, potatoes,
green beans, roll, coffee, hot tea and dessert. They
are closed on Wednesdays sooo—they are opening
up just for us! I have hired Andrew Martin to per-
form magic after dinner.
Andrew Martin has been perfecting and performing
his special brand of magic-comedy for over 25 years.
Andrew’s first paid performance took place at his
local library when he was just 11 years old. In order
to keep pace with the heavy demand for his services,
at the age of 22 Andrew turned professional and dedi-
cated himself entirely to magic. He has made his liv-
ing at it ever since.
There is something delightfully zany about Andrew.
He has a natural flair for the comic as well as top
rated magical skills. Currently he performs over 500
shows a year from stolling to full-scale stage produc-
tions.
This will be a fun, relaxing evening!

ing lamps in 1935 with his wife. Their first Tiffany lamp

“BEEHIVE” - The Musical
@ Hanna Theater—Playhouse Square

DEPART: 2:15PM
RETURN: after 7:30pm Show
COST: $79.00 (Meal Extra) REGISTRATION BEGINS Monday, June 5 @ 8:30AM
The titles say it all: “Downtown,” “To Serve With Love,”
“It’s My Party,” “Where the Boys Are,” “Respect.” It’s
“Beehive, the ‘60s Musical,” and audiences around the
world are cheering this exciting and colorful salute to the
women who made the music of the 1960s so special, every-
one from Lesley Gore to Janis Joplin, from the Shirelles to
Aretha Franklin, and everyone in between. Written by
agent and playwright Larry Gallagher, “Beehive, the ‘60s
Musical” includes 40 beloved hits that take you on a jour-
ney through the look, the sounds and the feel of the times.
Through song, the eight wailing women of “Beehive” docu-
ment the dramatic changes that America underwent during
the ‘60s, with 43 wigs, 40 costumes, 25 cans of hairspray a
week and one very, very hot band. From the earliest part of
the decade, when fun, innocent tunes were the order of the
day (“The Name Game,” “One Fine Day,” “Judy’s Turn to
Cry,” “Will You Love Me Tomorrow”) to the mid ’60s,
when unrest was in the air (“The Beat goes On,” “You
Don’t Own Me”) and finally to the era of women discover-
ing their own empowerment (“Natural Woman,” “Society’s
Child,” “Me and Bobby McGee”) “Beehive” will have you
dancing in the aisles.
This frenetically paced salute to girl power is “Forever
Plaid” with cleavage. Washington Times, “This hit-
parade revue swings from the sweet sounds of the
Supremes to Janis Joplin’ heart-rending rasp.
We also have tickets to meet the director before the
show. We will eat on the way.
We only have 26 tickets to this show!

shop, eat and just have a good time.
The mall personnel were cordial and gave us nice

BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY
WITH
SONGWRITERS OF THE CROOKED ROAD
July 17-19, 2017
The crooked road is the area that takes travelers across southwest Virginia, through the birthplace of country music. In 1927
Ralph Peer, a record producer with the Victor Talking Machine Company, set up a temporary music studio. Over the next 12
days he recorded songs by 19 artists, including Jimmie Rodgers and the Carter family. These recordings launched the coun-
try music industry. In 1998 the United States Congress recognized Bristol as “The Birthplace of Country Music”.
We will be staying in the Abingdon & Bristol area touring many things including the “The Birthplace of Country Music Mu-
seum”.
In harmony with the music is the driving sound of race engines. Bristol is home of the World’s Fastest Half-mile Bristol Mo-
tor Speedway, NASCAR’s most popular track, as well as Bristol Drag way.
We will be going to the speedway, downtown Bristol and much more. This is a special event, only on this date. Come join
us!
One highlight of this tour, is an evening with Grammy Winning Songwriter Richard Leigh, his friends and their music. This
is an intimate evening with members of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Filled with stories, songs, laughter and
memories. These songwriters have written for Ray Charles, Connie Frances, George Jones and Tammy Wynette, the Dixie
Chicks, Anne Murray and Perry Como to name a few.
Richard has written 9 songs himself that rose to number 1 hits on the charts. “I’ll Get Over You”, “Don’t It Make Your
Brown Eyes Blue” both performed by Crystal Gayle and others.
Along the way home, we will stop just outside Charleston, WV to tour J.Q.Dickinson Salt Works. A family owned facility
that harvests an all natural salt by hand. Time for tasting and to browse the gift shop with regional specialties as well as their
salts.
You will be able to stand in two states at once...Bristol, Tennessee and Bristol, Virginia.
Cost Per Person: Double -$549.00, Single - $689.00, Triple—$529.00
Deposit of $100 due at registration.
Balance is due by June 9, 2017.
