Cool and rainy days have set the scene this winter. It’s tempting to rug up and stay indoors, but winter in the Pilbara is a time to embrace the beauty of our unique landscape and explore our towns and surrounds. Take a bushwalk, enjoy a picnic, explore muddy 4x4 tracks or gather some inspiration from your local tourist information centre. Always take care and be prepared. As spectacular as our landscape is, our environment can be unforgiving. Ensure water supplies, first aid kits and vehicle maintenance are up to date before you adventure off road.

Many clubs hold their Annual General Meetings around this time and are looking for fresh volunteers to join the ranks. There are lots of benefits to volunteering: it helps you make new friends and contacts, it increases your social and relationship skills, boosts your mental and physical health and it can advance your career.

If you are a sporting club or community group seeking volunteers; remember that recruiting people for the right program requires a commitment of time, energy, creativity and persistence. It’s important to utilise a range of recruitment strategies. Some helpful tips can be found on:

or by contacting one of the Club Development team.

Tom Price Visitor Centre - a local gem not just for the touristsThe Tom Price Visitor Centre recently re-opened its doors after undergoing a refurbishment. While the Visitor Centre is an essential service for tourists visiting the region, it is also a great resource for our community and offers a wealth of information, unique giftware and products - including books, jewellery, artwork, rock critters and hand-made soaps. The Visitor Centre is a great opportunity for artists to sell their wares and to promote local business and upcoming events.

With a wealth of knowledge, staff at the Visitor Centre can assist in planning short trips throughout the Pilbara divulging the best camping spots, accommodation and must-dos. Drop in for some ideas and discover new places to explore during your next weekend away or day trip.

To stay up to date with what is happening throughout the region, visit the website - www.tomprice.org.au or Tom Price Visitor Centre on Facebook.

The current opening hours are:Monday-Friday 8:30am - 5:00pmSaturday & Sunday 8.30am - 12.30pm

I wish the new Executive all the very best for the future, they will be a very strong Executive which is only positive for cricket in Tom Price and Paraburdoo”
