Action Plan 2012/13

Over the coming year the Green council plan to achieve the following:- but we need your help and support for them to be fully successful.

Every year is important at Hawes Side but this year we also need to renew our Green Flag.

Ask children in our classes to use the Green council

Blog more.

Ask children in our classes to make more use of the

suggestion boxes in school.

Develop the Green Council Blog to include more resources and

ideas for use by teachers, children and our parents at

home.

Mr Livesey and the council will run a second sustainability conference for all primary schools in Blackpool in June next year sharing what we have learnt with the community.

To organise a community litter

pick, or help tidy a community garden.

Increase the variety of

plants in the school

gardens.

Increase the variety of wildlife habitats in

school.

To purchase a greenhouse to

extend the growing season.

Improve provision for

birds – feeding and

nesting.

Create information pages about the

plants we grow and have in school

Involve more children and parents in gardening

Learn about different methods

of energy production in class.

To organise regular litter picks and also conduct a BIG TIDY

UP in April

Use the school respect token

system to reward good

behaviour – ie people using the litter bins

Design posters to encourage others to not drop litter.

To launch the walk to school scheme which compliments our Golden Boot Challenge. uses the which rewards children and classes for sustainable

travel to school.

To encourage more children to cycle or scooter to school.

especially paper.To reduce the amount of waste

produced by school . Increase the amount of recycling that goes on in school. More about that in a minute!

No we haven’t gone crazy! These things will raise money for the Green Council

Take tooth brushes and toothpaste tubes for example.

Most of you will use at least 8 of these a year!

In most homes there are at least 3 people.

So that’s 24 per family.

We have over 550 families in this school.

So that would be 13,200 per year.

School gets 2p per brush or tube.This would make £264 .EASY!

Take any McVities biscuit wrappers.

Most families have at least 1 packet a week.

There are 52 weeks in a year
