Change is the new normal. According to our global technology
survey of more than 3,100 IT and business executives,
86 percent of the executives anticipate that the pace
of technology change will increase rapidly or at an
unprecedented rate in their industry over the next three years.
Many companies, already reeling from the impacts of
technology and the changes they need to make in response,
find themselves temporarily overwhelmed—some even
paralyzed as they absorb the magnitude of the tasks ahead.
Getting past the digital culture shock that so many businesses
find themselves in today sounds daunting. But fortunately
there are models already available for inspiration. Not only
have many large tech companies established thriving digital
cultures, but there are also early adopters in other industries
showing the way ahead.
Accenture Technology Vision
We are in the midst of a major technology revolution, specifically a digital revolution. Our research
model and analysis shows that digital is now dominating every sector of the economy.

In 2015, the big question was no longer about digital
transformation, but about what business leaders could do
with their digital advantage—and how they could stretch
their boundaries to get ahead of the competition.
In 2016, leveraging the power of a digital business is no
longer simply about incorporating technologies into the
organization. It’s about reinventing the organization—and
the culture within it—to drive innovation, to drive change,
to drive the business into the next generation.
With Oracle technologies residing at the heart of so many
of the world’s largest organizations, their contribution to
achieving this ‘People First’ agenda is growing more
important all the time.
In the Technology Vision for Oracle 2016, you’ll see how
Accenture and Oracle are applying their individual
strengths to enable organizations to carve out their places
in the digital ecosystems that are defining their industries
in the platform economy.

Intelligent
Automation The essential new
co-worker for the
digital age

Intelligent automation is the launching pad for new
growth and innovation.
Powered by artificial intelligence, the next wave of
solutions will gather unprecedented amounts of data
from disparate systems and—by weaving systems,
data and people together—create solutions that
fundamentally change the organization, as well as
what it does and how it does it.
The symbiotic relationship between technology and humans is far from being a vision of
the future, however, it’s a relationship that’s already enabling some enterprises to
leapfrog the competition. They’re doing this by using intelligent automation and it’s how
this automation empowers people that’s the true source of its differentiating potential.

What we see with our Oracle lens:
From Oracle’s cloud-based technologies, to on-
premises infrastructure such as Oracle
Engineered Systems, to software that’s been
optimally tuned to work with the hardware, it’s a
perfectly choreographed tango between hardware
and software.
In this chapter we explore how Accenture uses
Oracle technologies to help clients embrace
intelligent automation, Accenture’s DevOps for
Oracle library, and purpose-built Oracle
accelerators that ultimately empowers the rapid
creation of new products and services on a scale
that was previously unfeasible.

Liquid
Workforce Building the workforce
for today’s digital demands

By exploiting technology to enable workforce
transformation, leading companies will create highly
adaptable and change-ready enterprise environments
that are able to meet today’s dynamic digital demands.
This liquid workforce competitive advantage is apparent
as IT and business executives surveyed report that
“deep expertise for the specialized task at hand” was
only the fifth most important characteristic they required
for employees to perform well in a digital work
environment – other qualities such as ‘the ability to
quickly learn’ or ‘shift gears’ were ranked higher.
What matters now is how technology can be used to empower people and
transform approaches to the workforce, creating new corporate cultures that
can continuously adapt and learn, create new solutions, and drive relentless
change.
Accenture and Oracle are working together to help organizations develop
and deliver their liquid workforce with Oracle’s HCM cloud by:
• using analytics to deliver key insights into workforce capabilities and
readiness
• finding the right talent by using new sourcing channels and redefining
“talent”
• creating an agile workforce that’s built to and for change—and is
rewarded for that agility
• and enabling the ability of employees to learn and adapt in a fast-paced,
collaborative environment.
This chapter focuses on Accenture’s experience with Oracle’s HCM suite of
products that enable workforce transformation by focusing technology on
people’s skills, social networks and knowledge, transforming them an
adaptable, change-ready, and passionate liquid workforce.

The Platform
EconomyTechnology-driven
business model innovation
from the outside in

Industry leaders are unleashing technology’s power
by developing platform-based business models and
strategies to capture new growth opportunities, ultimately
driving the most profound change in the global
macroeconomic environment since the Industrial Revolution.
This is reinforced by 81 percent of our survey respondents
who agree that platform-based business models will become
part of their organization’s core growth strategy within three
years.
Instead of looking to new products and services to drive growth,
platform businesses understand that it’s the platforms on which
those same products and services are built that are the new
engines of success.
Operating in the platform economy requires rethinking not only
the platform that your customers, stakeholders and others
experience, but also transforming the internal technology
infrastructures, services and tools that power your operations.
In this chapter we look at how Accenture has not only embraced
this rapid platform growth, but is a leader in the charge toward
digital transformation with the formation of the Accenture Oracle
Business Group, which brings to life our vision for an agile,
connected and digital platform for our clients.

Trend 4
Predictable
DisruptionLooking to digital
ecosystems for the next
waves of change
12Copyright © 2016 Accenture. All rights reserved.
Fast-emerging digital ecosystems are creating the foundation
for the next big wave of enterprise disruptions
by straddling markets and blurring industry boundaries;
forward-thinking leaders can proactively predict these
ecosystem trajectories to gain a competitive advantage.
Companies are already significantly or moderately
experiencing ecosystem disruption, with 81 percent of survey
respondents indicating that they are seeing this
in their industry.
Companies can no longer make predictions simply by looking at
competitors in their industry. It pays to look at ways to meld
existing traditional infrastructures with those that match data-
driven leaders in any industry. Oracle plays a preeminent role in
this space by maintaining a sure footing between its
technological roots and a new world of larger-scale systems and
open-source tools that drive business decision-making with vast
amounts of data.
In parallel, Accenture helps companies navigate this increasingly
complex ecosystem, supporting the decision-making process
along the path to becoming truly data-driven.
This chapter explores how Accenture and Oracle can enable
clients to connect data using the data-focused technologies
Oracle offers, bringing a larger picture into focus from the more
myopic tendencies of aging data platforms.

Trend 5
Digital Trust
Strengthening customer
relationships through
ethics and security
14Copyright © 2016 Accenture. All rights reserved.
Trust is a cornerstone of the digital economy, said 83
percent of survey respondents.
To gain the trust of individuals, ecosystems and regulators
in this new landscape, businesses must focus on digital
ethics as a core strategy; better security, on its own, won’t
be enough.
Success in tomorrow’s digital business will largely depend
on security decisions made today. Organizations should
manage data and digital ethics as core strategies for
mitigating business risks, just as they do with cybersecurity.
Their reward? Unprecedented growth in an interconnected
platform economy with minimal downside risks. Those who
master this transformation can move beyond the first level
of customer trust to a higher level where empowered
individuals trust a company to lead them into the digital
future.
This chapter explores how Accenture and Oracle address
the core segments of data integrity, device security,
application security, infrastructure security, business
alignment, governance and compliance, identity
management, and cyber defense management.
