OFFICIAL EVENT GUIDE

Dear Delegates,

Abu Dhabi Ports welcomes you all to the first 2015 Breakbulk Middle East Conference and Exhibition, and to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

In the Middle East, infrastructure investments are in excess of USD 1.3 trillion over the next ten years and promise corresponding growth in the cargo and transportation market. Industrial growth and cargo volumes go hand-in-hand – it is the indication of a healthy economy when more trade flows through its ports.

We at Abu Dhabi Ports contribute to the Emirate’s economic vision by facilitating its ever growing trade volumes. Last year, Abu Dhabi Ports handled more general cargo than ever before. With a 37 per cent year-on-year increase in the total number of freight tonnes, Abu Dhabi Ports broke the Emirate’s record by handling 12.8 million FT in 2014 – dry bulk made up the majority of total volume at 81 per cent. Our progress since 2009, when we handled 2.5 million FT of dry bulk, has been rapid and moving forward we look to further build on our successes, with H1 2015 bulk cargo volume already eclipsing H1 2014 by 29 percent.

Progress is in our DNA. To book consistent progress, however, our industry must evolve, commit to innovation and deploy next-generation port technology. Innovation plays a critical role in creating value for our customers at the highest level, and in maintaining long-term, valued relationships. We at Abu Dhabi Ports prioritise innovation and automation, ensuring our facilities and operations are equipped to best serve our customers, the continued development of the Emirate, and that of the UAE and the region as whole.

Please enjoy the Breakbulk Middle East Conference and Exhibition, an informative and inspiring event that will present technology and innovation from different stakeholders essential to the success of today’s trade and logistics megaprojects.

Should you have any questions or desire more information, please visit our stand and our staff will gladly help you with any enquiry.

Thank you,Abu Dhabi Ports

OFFICIAL EVENT GUIDE

Janet NodarContent DirectorBreakbulk Events & Media

Dear Breakbulk Middle East Delegates:

Welcome to Breakbulk’s first Middle East exhibition and conference. We are excited to be presenting a new event in this dynamic region of the world.

It’s been a challenging year for the breakbulk and project cargo industry. We all wonder what waits around the economic corner. When will oil and commodity prices stabilize? What is the state of the global fleet? What will Iran’s re-entry into the global market mean for our industry? Our program will look at these key questions, and dig into industry-specific discussions as well.

Conference sessions begin with our opening ceremony and welcoming remarks from Abu Dhabi Ports, DP World and Almajdouie. Noted economist Eduard Gracia, with A.T. Kearney, will present our first keynote, delving into the state of the energy sector both short- and long-term and implications for capital projects in the GCC, Iran and elsewhere.

On day two, our keynote will be an in-depth examination of the global multipurpose and heavy-lift fleet, presented by well-respected analyst and lecturer Susan Oatway, with Drewry Shipping Consultants.

Our roster of distinguished executives from the global Breakbulk industry will present industry discussion panels, specialized presentations and a micro-seminar. On day one, our presentations include an in-depth discussion of the complex logistics required to organize “Sadara – the World’s Greatest Logistical Puzzle,” and an analysis of the ongoing boom in rail projects and related project cargo regionally and globally.

On day two, Track A will feature a look at doing business in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a micro-seminar on marine contracts of carriage, while Track B will feature a two-part super-session on modules: End User/EPC Decision Strategies and Transport Decisions.

Thank you for joining us at Breakbulk Middle East. We invite you to build stronger relationships, discover new business opportunities, strengthen your team and support your clients with everything Breakbulk has to offer.

WELCOME TO BREAKBULK MIDDLE EAST!

Our experienced industry speakers will provide you with the basics to help you navigate this exciting breakbulk and project cargo business. Key concepts, standard practices and processes are explained here. You will also be introduced to a wide variety of companies whose businesses operate within this industry.

These speakers will illustrate real-life case studies for you and use stories based upon their experiences to explain business topics including cost, transport, and chartering. Our case study will describe the use of various transport modes to move a heavy-lift piece from origin to destination.

The second part of our day is a more informal, fast-paced session called the Career Fair.
