From 2019, Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main will be conducted twice in a year by the National Testing

Agency (NTA) as per the announcement by The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource

Development, Govt. of India in July 2018. This Examination was being conducted by the Central Board of

Secondary Education (CBSE) till 2018.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is only an examination conducting body. After declaration of result, the

data is handed over to Centralised Seat Allocation Board (CSAB)/JoSAA or the concerned State

government/institute for Seat Allocation Process and admission procedure.

JEE (Main) is applicable for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs participating though Central Seat Allocation

Board subject to the condition that the candidate should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class

examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards.

For SC/ST/PwDcandidates the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.

Candidates have to apply for JEE (Main) January - 2019 “Online” ONLY. Only one application is to be submitted

by a candidate. Submission of Online Application Form may be done by accessing NTA website -

www.jeemain.nic.in only. The candidates should select four cities of examination as per their choice of Paper-

1 or Paper-2 or both Paper-1 & Paper-2 of JEE (Main) 2019. The Paper-1 (B. E./B. Tech.) of JEE (Main) will also

be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission

to the undergraduate programmes offered by the IITs.

• JEE is now the single entrance exam for all engineering aspirants in India to take admission into the

Engineering /Science institutions.

• There is no need to apply for several entrance exams.

• The students will now be free and relaxed after appearing in a single exam.

• This will considerably reduced stress-level and the student will be able to avoid the multiple exams

which posed the challenge of preparing for different syllabi and patterns.

• It is also a substantial financial savings for parents.

• A simultaneous preparation of School/ Board examinations and JEE will yield better results.

• Introduction of JEE, thus eliminates the unnecessary wastage of time, effort & money.

Eligibility Criteria for JEE 1. Age Limit: Candidates of GEN and OBC-NCL categories should have been born on or after October 1,

1994. Five years relaxation is given to SC, ST and PwD candidates, i.e., these candidates should have

been born on or after October 1, 1989.

2. Number of Attempts: The maximum number of attempts which a candidate can avail at JEE (Main)

shall be limited to 03 (three). A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two (02) times in

consecutive years irrespective of whether or not he/she passed the Qualifying Examination.

3. Appearance in Class XII (or equivalent) examination: A candidate should have appeared for

the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in 2018 or 2019. However, admission criteria in

the concerned Institution / University will be followed as prescribed by the concerned University/

Institution and as per the guidelines & criteria prescribed by the All India Council for Technical Education

(AICTE). In addition to JEE score, the qualifying examination is Class-XII from any National/State or

‘Approved’ International Board.

4. Earlier admission at IITs: A candidate should NOT have accepted admission at any of the IITs

earlier.

5. Performance in JEE (Main): The candidate should be among the top 2,24,000* (including all

categories) in Paper-1 of JEE (Main) for candidate who wish to appear in JEE (Advanced). The

percentages of various categories are: 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST and the remaining

50.5% is OPEN for all. Within each of these four categories, 5% horizontal reservation is available for

PwD candidates.

6. 75% cut-off Marks or Top 20 Percentile: Candidates to qualify for the admission in the

IITs/NITs/IIITs and such other CFTIs whose admissions are based on the JEE (Advanced)/JEE (Main)

ranks, they should have secured at least 75% marks, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th board

examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC, ST and PwD candidates the qualifying marks

would be 65% in the 12th board examination. There shall be no weightage for the 12th class marks in

calculating the ranks in the JEE (Main) examination.

7. Subjects for calculating aggregate marks & cut off marks: The marks scored in the following

five subjects will be considered for calculating the aggregate marks and the cut-off marks for fulfilling

the top 20 percentile criterion: (1) Physics, (2) Chemistry, (3) Mathematics, (4) a language (the language

with the higher marks will be considered), and (5) any subject other than the above four (the subject with

the higher marks will be considered).

* The total number of candidates may be slightly higher than 2,24,000 in the presence of “tied” ranks/scores

in each category.

Indian Nationals (including PIO/OCI) must fulfill each of the above seven criteria for appearing in JEE

(Adv) 2019.

Foreign Nationals are not required to write JEE (Main) 2019 and may register for JEE (Advanced) 2019

directly subject to fulfillment of Eligibility Criteria 1, 2, 3 & 4 as mentioned above.

The MHRD announced on 8thJuly 2018 that from 2019, JEE (Main) will be conducted twice in a year, first time in

January and second time in April. The mode of test will also change from paper pen (OMR based) to Computer

Based Test (CBT). In addition, the JEE body already converted the JEE Advanced exam pattern to CBT mode in

2018 itself.

Device:

To ensure all our students get the exposure and ample practice for CBT test taking and analysis of each test

instantly, we wil be conducting all our classroom test for all JEE classroom courses on Tablet. It is mandatory for

each classroom student joining the Aakash JEE programs to bring a compatible and fully charged tablet to class

for test taking purpose.

The institute has also made provision to enable students to purchase Tablets and Data connectivity (4G) SIM

cards. Students can go the link: www.aakash.ac.in/icampus and book/buy the device listed on the site directly

from our Tablet partners (Lenovo &Jio LYF). The prices offered on the buying portal are highly discounted and

are available directly from the vendor at competitive prices.

Once a student registers with Aakash Program, he/she will have to purchase the Tablet from this portal. To

ensure the price offered is discounted, a student will be required to enter his/her Aakash PSID. The tablet vendor

will take the order directly from this portal and dispatch it to student’s preferred address.

Connectivity:

Post purchase of Device, a student will be required to buy a 4G plan for the tablet, that will enable him/her to

download tests from testing App as well as receive test notifications, results etc from AESL. The 4G connectivity

will also be required for uploading of test attempt post completion of the test at the centre. For this, company has

done a tie up with Reliance Jio for 4G connections at highly discounted rates. The 4G connection booking & KYC

formalities will be done at the centre by Reliance team.

Application:

Once a child has the tablet and connectivity, then he/she will be required to download the testing App of Aakash.

This App will have all the test papers (FTs, TE, AIATS , Assignments etc). As per the test schedule the student will

be required to bring the tablet to centre on Test Day and take the live CBT on it for each & every test. Post

submission of the test, the student will have exhaustive analysis and score on the test attempt for his/her review

and improvement.

The total marks obtained in Mathematics will be the marks awarded for Mathematics in

Paper 1 and Paper 2. The total marks obtained in Physics and Chemistry will also be

calculated in the same way. The aggregate marks will be calculated as the sum of the marks

obtained in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Candidates have to satisfy the subject-

wise as well as the aggregate qualifying marks to be included in a rank list.
