The AACT Concept

Airbus has updated its Maintenance Training, using a new concept, which delivers

two major objectives, to focus on active and operationally orientated training

AACT has been applied:

First to the A320 family training program in 2005

Then to the A330 and A340 families training programs in 2006

Finally will be applied to the A380 training program in 2007

AACT concept

Two major objectives

Active learning

Active participation of the trainee throughout the course

Use of interactive simulation tools

Mix of theory and practice allowing a better understanding of aircraft systems

Operationally oriented training

Servicing, BITE (Built In Test Equipment) tests, and troubleshooting maintenance tasks conducted by the trainee through realistic operational scenarios

Tasks fully performed on simulation tools reproducing the whole aircraft (inside and outside)

Practical sessions performed by using the real electronic aircraft documentation

Changing Attitudes to Improve Safety

To consider other pedagogical methods.

Memory and learning

95% of what we teach

10% of what we read

20% of what we hear

50% of what we see & hear

30% of what we see

“Conventional” learning

Changing Attitudes to Improve Safety

To improve the practical training

in order to…

reduce the risk, during training, of…

enhance the realism of the troubleshooting exercises

Personal injuries and aircraft damage

New training tools

Why HTML ?

Internet / Intranet compatible

– WEB technology

– Available at your bases & stations through your Intranet

• Only one source

• Flexible solution

• Refresher / Recurrent training

• Allowing wider deployment

New training tools

Why HTML ?

Videos and pictures integrated

Advantages :

•Only one screen needed

•Lighter format

•Full courseware on only one DVD (instead of 1 CD + 3DVDs before)

The Virtual aircraft

It simulates the whole aircraft on a PC screen allowing - when

linked to the M/FTD - the performance of maintenance tasks in

all their steps:

Post-Flight Report consultation, fault isolation, removal and installation of the faulty

component, BITE tests in the cockpit

Mobility around the World

With the new AACT concept and the benefit of the new generation tools M/FTD and Virtual Aircraft,

Airbus offers a worldwide service delivering Type Training to the same standard as in an Airbus Training Center

at your location using the

Mobile Classroom
