With the celebration of Thanksgiving upon us, our expression of profound appreciation to everyone for your presence, positivity and participation in the Auburn Arts Association during the past year. And, in the spirit of thanks for giving, a fond farewell to our friend and art education specialist Cari Cleckler, who has relocated with her family over the rainbow and up the road to Birmingham. Our endless gratitude and admiration to Cari for her enduring artful impact and contributions to the community. We will miss everything Cari, including the alliterative rhythm of her name. And, we warmly welcome Lila Stone to creatively and colorfully carry on. As the calendar swiftly turns to December, we hear a train a-comin’.... All aboard the Polar Express! Arriving at Jan Dempsey Station Saturday December 7. Get your tickets for a joyful ride into the holiday season. Next stop, the annual Holiday Arts Sale. On Saturday December 14, the Jan Dempsey, Frank Brown, and Harris Center Triangle will be abundant with arts and crafts, and unique gifts and goodies for everyone’s Wish List. Check it twice. And, it’s not too early to make a New Year’s resolution. Foresight is 2020. How about… enjoy participating in as many Arts Association events and activities as possible in the coming year? Beginning on Saturday morning, February 8. Whether (weather) or not ground hog Phil sees his shadow, we are having a yART Sale at the JDCAC. ART EDUCATION CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS

The Auburn Arts Association’s homeschool classes andDean Road Ceramics Studioclasses are listed in the Cityof Auburn Parks and RecreationWinter Quarter 2020 brochure available on-line and at JDCAC. AAA workshops also are includedin the Winter Quarter brochure. ART FOR HOMESCHOOLERSAAA continues to sponsor and support Art for Homeschoolers classes at JDCAC. Age-appropriate classes introduce students to art principles, techniques, and artists’ work. During Winter Quarter,Amy Kaiser will teach Art Explorers for Ages 6-9, and Katherine Duncan will teach the intermediate level class, Art Adventures for Ages10-15. These classes meet in January and February; timesand fees are listed in the WinterQuarter brochure.

OPEN STUDIOTuesdays, Dec 3 - Feb 288am - 2pmAAA will sponsor the PaintingOpen Studio at JDCAC.Coordinated by Nils Larson.

WORKSHOPEco Print & Book Binding WorkshopFriday, February 21, 5:30 - 7:30pm and Saturday, February 22, 9 -11amA two-day workshop sponsored by the AAA. Saramia Arenas will demonstrate stitching and teach textile dying techniques. Duringthe workshop, participants will create their own eco-prints.

ART NOTES

POLAR EXPRESSat JDCAC December 78am, 10:30am, and 1:30pmTickets for this event based onthe ever-popular Christmas book,go on sale November 1.This event sells out quickly.

Activities include meeting Santaand Mrs. Claus, enjoying hot cocoa and cookies, and making art that reflects the joys of the season.

Participants can select tickets for one of three times on December 7: 8am, 10:30am, and 1:30pm.

Children under 7 must be accompanied by adult ticket holders. Tickets are $15 for ages24 months to 12 years old. Under 23 months are free. Children may wear their favorite holiday or most comfy pajamas.
