A variable star in Hercules (28.1927 Herculis). RA. i7h53mqs, Decl. + ~ 9 ~ 4 7 1 2 (1900.0). On proper-motion plates of Kapteyn Area No. 62, Mr:H. G. ScoitBarrett, Second Assistant at the RadclitTe Observatory, has found a star showing considerable variation in brightness. The star has been identified as No. 294 in the D. M. of the Selected Areas (Harvard Annals 101.164), where it appears with the magnitude 16.4, the date of the observation being 1912 June 9. The Oxford photographs give the following results :
Date Int. Mag. Date Int. Mag. 1912”Ja:;e 21 ‘n:;?* ~ 1924 July 11 14.1 I 1925 June 9 13.3
The first of these obseivations is subject to some uncertainty as the star is at the limit of the plate, but it seems definitely brighter than 16m4.
