A Strong Global Partner in Oleochemicals Our strength is experience in the manufacture of products based on re- newable raw materials together with our direct access to natural resources. Our core business is based on the pro-

duction of saturated and unsaturated natural fatty alcohols from palm kernel or coconut oil. Polyols, fatty amines and speciality chemicals broaden our current product portfolio and by day we add new products to our range. Throughout the world our people devel- op products, technological solutions,

performance optimizations and new application formulas. With our initiatives, we want you to benefit from the global strength of our dynamic group.

We look forward to working with you!

  • State-of-the-Art Technology Designed for High-Standard Products

fatty esters and ethers. By 1999, a state- of-the-art technology was installed for the production of fatty esters and other chem- ical specialities derived from vegetable raw materials. Longtime R&D experience combined with additional synergies from global oleochem- istry allows DHW to present itself as a strong and reliable partner for industrial cooperation. DHW in Rodleben offers tai- lor-made oleochemical derivatives, which are used in the production of nutritional pro- ducts, cosmetic and pharmaceutical goods as well as additives for industrial purposes.

    Progress from Nature

Over the years, as worldwide aware- ness for environmental issues have grown, gentle processing technologies and the use of renewable resources have become increasingly important. Our technological expertise making use of natural ingredients for the pro- duction of chemical substances quali- fies DHW at Rodleben to fulfill its obli- gations in meeting the requirements for a sustainable, ecologically-sound world. The concept of a chemical production site based on human needs and envi- ronmental awareness is already reality within our company today.

Ester, Ether, Sugar Derivatives and Other Specialities

By 1931, Deutsche Hydrierwerke (DHW) in Rodleben/Germany patented and initi- ated the world’s first production of fatty al- cohols based on the evolving technology of catalytic, high pressure hydrogenation. Today this important development in che- mical processing still influences our lifes. Industries such as food & nutrition, deter- gents and toiletries, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals as well as other industri- al processes rely on these oleochemistry branch achievements. The experiences of DHW in hydro- genation technology for manufacturing fatty and sugar alcohols were the funda- mentals for the ensuing „cascade“ of chem- ical modifications leading to the develop- ment of esters, ethers, sugar derivatives and other chemical specialities. Applica- tions of all these products are as diverse as the products themselves being used as emulsifiers, surface active agents, chem- ical modifiers, consistency promoters, moisturizers, emollients, lubricants or chemical intermediates. In 1991, DHW was incorporated into the worldwide network of research and pro- duction facilities of our oleochemicals Group. With the creation of Ecogreen Oleo- chemicals in 2001, DHW reinforced its po- sition as a global producer and supplier of unsaturated fatty alcohols, primary fatty amines, sorbitols and other sugar alcohols as well as of a new range of speciality

    A Solution for Your Application

Our ester product line includes different classes such as wax, glycerol, sorbitan and speciality esters. All are produced starting from 100% renewable, vegetable-derived sources such as palm oil, palm kernel oil, coconut oil, rapeseed oil... Through their different functions and effects, our esters can be used in a broad variety of different industrial applications. Some of them act as nonionic surfactants enabling the formulation of water-in-oil (W/O) or oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions in cosmetic and pharmaceutical goods and others provide outstanding sensory or stabilizing properties for many products in the nutritional sector. Through their addition, various industrial manufacturing processes such as polymer processing or oil recovery can be simplified considerably.

Unique in Variety: Esters Made in Rodleben

Properties like lubrication, mould release, consistency promotion, emolliency, stability enhancement, spreading or fatting, solvency and cleaning demonstrate the large variety of functions offered by these unique products.

The products of the Romulgin range, specifically designed for use in health food, food stuffs and feed formulations in addition to confectionery and sweets production comply with the latest version of the specific regulations such as FDA, FAO/WHO or EU. Corresponding Kosher Certificates as well as Certifica- tes of Analysis can be provided for the individual products of the Romulgin range.

Through our interdisciplinary approach in different applications and the long- lasting production expertise of our teams at DHW, we continuously develop new speciality products finding new effects and new areas of use. If you think of further needs, e.g. an effect you look for or a new product you want to test, please contact us... we will make it happen!

  • Romulgin SMS, Romulgin SMO, Romulgin STS

Functions and Applications The sorbitan esters of the Romulgin range are W/O emulsifiers and dispersants acting additionally as aerating agents and anti-staling aids. They improve volume and texture of bakery products, ice creams, fillings and whipped toppings. They give stability and dryness to ice creams and icings.

Specifically, Romulgin SMS improves the viability, drying, gassing power and dispersibility of Instant Active Dry Yeast (IADY). As a W/O emulsifier, Romulgin SMS prevents the oiling off and supports the dispersion of coffee whiteners. The sorbitan esters of the Romulgin
