Already the audience assumes that he is the good guy, fighting for justice as thrillers usually have an idea of justice vs. injustice (good vs. evil)

 

This is a shot of a girls body on the floor.. The girl was running from someone and is injured. There is blood on the floor. This is typical theme of a thriller. The purpose is to scare and frighten the audience. There is an overall feeling of suspense.

 

This is a close up of the investigator looking at evidence. His expression suggests that he is confused/shocked. This clip is shown from the protagonists point of view, this point of view allows the audience to become more involved in the plot and feel closer to the characters.

 

In the shot we are introduced to one of the main actors. This is a mid shot. We can interpret from this picture that he is also a investigator. The types of clothing are very typical and generic. In general, most characters will appear smartly dressed.

 

This is a long shot of the building been closed and the police taking the girls body away. The purpose if this shot is to show the audience the severity of the murder. The typical setting of a thriller is in an urban city. Usually the main colours used will be grey, black and white to emphasise the helplessness of the first character we see.

 

This is a two shot. Here the audience generally understands what is happening but doesn't have the full explanation ,which allows the film to retain its mystery and suspense until later. In the clip its raining, which is an example of pathetic fallacy.

This is a close up of the metronome. The man uses the metronome to drift of to sleep. This shows that he is stressed over work. The metronome is a symbol of peace and calmness.
