Need INTERNET at home? A program through Xfinity/Comcast called Internet Essentials is a program for families with children on free lunch or getting benefits of some kind. They are able to get internet service for around $10.00 a month and have the option to purchase a computer for $149. This could help a lot of our students have resources to do homework at home who may not have availability of internet or a computer. See this link: www.internetessentials.com

Even Anime can Inspire!By: Emma Crombie

Have you heard of Naruto Uzumaki? If not, I'll introduce you to him! Naruto is the main character of an anime named Naruto. Naruto is a simple minded, easy going, carefree, boisterous character. Naruto in the start of the anime is not strong, can’t do the most basic ninja techniques, and is very lonely; until he met a boy his age.

Many of us can feel like Naruto when we experience times in life when we are not successful or don’t reach the achievements of what others achieve.

I am drawn to Naruto because of his determination in becoming Hokage (regarded as the strongest shinobi/ninja in the village; the leader) and his determination to become stronger. The one who changed Naruto into wanting to become the Hokage was the boy he met; Sasuke Uchiha.

As shown in this episode of Anime, friends can play a vital role in helping us achieve our goals. That is often where I find my inspiration, through the support of friends and family. Perhaps you can become that needed spark to your friends like Sasuka Uchiha was to Naruto. A Few Important Reminders about Digital Citizenship:

Contributions from Tyler Hockert and Daijah Lugo

According to the World Health Organization, in the year 2020, approximately 1.53 million people will die from suicide because of social media. 71% of teens have more than one social media. Teens think of it as just fun and games and everyone has it as do I have it. But they don’t think in the long run what could happen if they use social media wrong. This article will help you understand to not overshare everything, that it can affect your future, and what you can do to help keep yourself safe on the internet.

First of all, do not overshare. People literally tell everything that is going on in their lives to all their friends on social media. They post every hour of the day and you keep posting everything your doing and where you're going. Then you friend one wrong person and that’s a problem. There’s not that many ways you can fix it. If you post something and isn’t the smartest thing, it can affect your future greatly. Not getting jobs to not getting into schools. Like in August 2009 a teacher in Georgia was fired for posting something on her Facebook. She had alcohol in the picture which got to the principle at the school she worked at and then she was asked for her resignation. It can literally ruin your future by just one or two posts that you didn’t think before you posted it. So if you just think one time and look over whatever you are trying post, it can honesty be life changing.

The internet can be a really bad place for minors. There could be all kinds of bad people trolling the internet. The internet leads to a lot of bad things like kidnappings all the way up to suicide. But first we are going to talk about weird people looking at little girls and boys. The most common is when a 30-50 year old men stalk teen girls on the internet. The men can lie about their age and try to meet up with the girls. When the girls actually meet with the men they could do a number of horrible acts to them or hold them captive.

But you can prevent this by going to your settings and put all of your accounts on private. Even then they can still look at your account because they could catfish you. Catfish is when someone who is pretending to be someone they are not. Anyways they could catfish you and you could think they are just a boy/girl but that's not the case. (continued in next column)

Digital Citizenship continued:

Remember students, you never know who is really behind the screen of a profile picture. This is why you should only accept people you know when allowing others into your social media accounts.
