Joan V. Feasley Joan Virginia Butler Feasley was born April 1, 1936, in Corning, New York, to Phoebe Sanders Butler and Hollis Ross Butler. She attended Addison High School where she excelled in music and academics. She was editor of the yearbook, was first chair of the orchestra's violin section, and graduated as the class valedicto-rian. She received a Re-gents' merit scholarship to attend Fredonia Uni-versity where she ma-jored in General Educa-tion and Music. She came to Eden as a student teacher in Janu-ary of 1957 and met her husband, William Fea-sley, who she married in 1958. She taught at Pinehurst Elementary School for two years, before becoming a stay-at-home mother for her seven children. In addi-tion to raising her chil-dren, she also worked on the family's dairy farm. She loved to volun-teer. She served for many years on the Al-tar Guild and as Lay Reader at both St. Paul's in Eden, New York, and Faith Lutheran in Le-canto, Florida. For more than 25 years she was the Chair or Co-Chair of St. Paul's Harvest Sup-per and she taught Sun-day School for 19 years. With her husband, she also chaired St. Paul's Stewardship CommitteeFeasley cont’d...

for 19 years. They also chaired Eden's annual fundraising drive for the American Cancer Society for 30 years. She helped set up and named HELP (Help Eden Limit Pollution) in the early 1970s. She tu-tored students for North Collins Public School and Immaculate Con-ception Catholic School and served as a 4-H leader. She also served on the Board of the New York State Farm Bureau Women's Committee and the Eden Historical Society. She enjoyed playing and teaching bridge, eventually becoming a Bronze Life Master and a certified teacher for the American Con-tract Bridge League. Her love of music con-tinued throughout her life--whether playing the piano at home, play-ing in her churches' bell choir, or just singing to herself as she went hap-pily about her day. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, William Agle Feasley; daughters Lynn (Adam Blumenthal), Jill (Kurt Lawson), Joy (Paul Swenbeck), and Jenny (Saju Bahuleyan); sons Bert (Paula Kruszka-Agle) and Carl (Diane); and her 10 grandchil-dren. Sister of Claira Bliss, Dorothy Howe, Linda Wilson, Karen Easter, Robert Clark and Dawn Meeks. Sister-in-law of Alice (late Rob-ert) Feasley and Barbara (Maxwell) Fisher. A memorial service was held Saturday, July 26, 2014 in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Eden, NY. Flowers gratefully decline. What can be said after 10 years of complete gratitude, appreciation and shenanigans? A million THANK YOU’s are not enough. But here goes……Team Georgie wants to say THANK YOU to everyone who came out for the 10th Annual Team Georgie Kickball Tournament. For some giggles, Cath and Foxy sent the rain down (in sheets at times), but we powered through and with your help we can now assist some of our neighbors in the North Collins community. We wondered if the 1st Annual would work and now here we are….wondering how many years we can continue with this crazy day. Thank you to Bev and Joanne for serving up the food. Thank you to Kibby for the tunes. Thank you to everyone who so graciously donated a door prize this year. Those helped tremendously! Thank you to everyone who donated a bas-ket, their time, their money and their kindness to this event. Congrats to Connie’s Crew for grabbing The Leg. It only seems right that you’d get on that trophy. We’ve said it before, but you guys never cease to amaze us. We had no idea this would be-come something you’d mark on your calendars and have to attend every summer. We know how busy you all are and we know schedules are tight, but there you are…every year…helping us help this community. Cath and Foxy were there with us, as always, and they couldn’t have asked for any more from you. Again, no amount of thank you’s are enough. We just hope you understand how grateful we feel to be a part of this event. It moves us every year and none of it works without you being there. Let’s shoot for next year and see where it takes us!! Stresing was a long-time resident of Eden. He was a retired bricklayer. he moved to The Villages in Florida in 2001, from Eden. He was a Navy Veteran. A private family service will be held in Eden.

Once again our Eden Community has helped us meet our goals! Thank you to everyone who played a role in making sure that our new Eden CSD digital sign was installed by graduation. It is a wonderful addition to our campus! A few years ago, the Eden CSD Shared Decision Making Team conducted a needs survey; improving communication throughout the community was a top recommendation. A new digital sign would be a way for not only the school district but the entire Eden Community to announce their upcoming events.

This past winter, a sign committee formed including representatives from the Eden Alumni Association, Eden Chamber of Commerce, Eden Community Foundation and Eden CSD. In March, the Eden Community Foundation started off the fundraising with a $5000 grant to the Eden Chamber of Commerce. The Eden Chamber then solicited local organizations, businesses and community members for contributions. This was followed by a generous anonymous donor who gave a matching grant of $5000. Thanks to other generous donations by Sharon Bauer, Howard Stresing and family, and many others this sign was installed on June 20th. The entire project was completed in less than three months and the sign has now been donated to the Eden CSD by the Eden Chamber of Commerce.

The digital sign was mounted into the existing brick structure, which was erected and donated to the district in the 1950s. In the words of our Chamber President, Paul Zittel, “All of Eden will benefit from having a highly visible sign, located in the center of town on a well-traveled route.” Any Town of Eden not-for-profit organization can request their message to be displayed at no cost. Messages will change every ten minutes in order to maintain the safety of drivers. Requests for messages to be displayed can be emailed to [email protected]. All email requests must include the organization’s name, a contact name, phone number, exact message to be displayed and duration.
