    ABSTRACT

    In this paper, smart home system is implemented using Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) and

    Service Robot. This system is low cost, low power and multifunctional based on Zigbee technology.

    The Zigbee technology is used for wireless communication protocol. Devices such as Temperature

    sensor, LDR sensor, Humidity sensor, Gas sensor, Light Fan, DC motor, GPRS Modem and buzzer

    are integrated in the system of the smart home system. Service Robot is used in smart home system.

    Robot is used for household application i.e. for picking and placing operation. Sensor node consists

    of sensing and processing and communication. Wireless Sensor Nodes communicate each other by

    wirelessly.

    I. INTRODUCTON

    Smart environment is a physical world that is connected to a network.WSN uses various

    sensor nodes. Sensor nodes consist of sensors and actuators. Generally this system improves the life

    quality of physical disabilities and aged person.WSN consists of few to thousands nodes and each

    node are connected to each other.

    This system is low power and low cost system so only two senor nodes are used. Robot is

    used for home application. Various Wireless technologies are available. Here Zigbee technology is

    used.

    II. RELETED LITERATURE

    Basically this project can be differentiate by 3 main technology such as PC, Zigbee wireless

    technology and LPC 2148 which play an important roles to develop a better, compatible, user

    friendly and cost efficient smart home system than other existing system. In general, this project

    consists of two major parts that need to be developed; Hardware and software. For the hardware part

    it consists of system board which includes LPC2148, Zigbee, sensors, GPRS modem and some basic

    electronic components.

    A. Practical design of intelligent living-space based on Bluetooth System: In this paper, intelligent home system based on Bluetooth technology as practically design

    and implemented in a living room, which was supported by the Taiwan Education Ministry under

    Projects of Improving Teaching Superiority Taiwan colleges[3].

    B. Zigbee based home automation wireless sensor network: This paper describes the Zigbee standard for wireless sensor network [4].

    C. Bluetooth Remote Home Automation System Using Android Application: In this paper, Home automation system is based on Bluetooth technology by using android

    application. Bluetooth technology is to provide access from smart home.

    D. Human Machine Interface: The smart home application is deals with machine-oriented communications (MOC). The

    term MOC means technical systems construction principle where interaction of two or more entities

    and at least one entity does not necessarily require human interaction or intervention in the

    communication process. So, the main part of the modern smart home functions relates to the scope of

    MOC.

    III. SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT

    By studying the existing technology of smart home system but there are many drawbacks so

    this system is proposed. This system is low cost and multifunctional also low power is required.

    Wireless Sensor Network to create a smart system.WSN consists of two nodes i.e. Master

    node and Slave node.WSN used for communication purpose. So various sensor nodes placed in

    home system. Home section is divided in two sections: Room Section and Pick and Place Robot

    Section Master nodes means Room section and Slave nodes means Pick and place robot section. In

    Room section various sensors are implemented such as Temperature sensor, LDR sensor, Humidity

    sensor, Gas sensor. Zigbee Transmitter connected in Room section. All sensor values are indicated

    on display but when critical condition arises particular action will takes place.

    When Temperature value increases above threshold value then buzzer will alarm

    simultaneously display HIGH TEMPERATURE and Fan is ON till temperature will slow down.

    When gas is detected buzzer will alarm and display smoke detected on LCD Display.LDR sensor

    indicates normal value but when threshold voltage increases light will be on and display sensor

    value. Humidity sensor indicates normal value but when humidity increases buzzer will alarm and

    display sensor value. All this data posted to web page through GPRS server.

    Slave node means pick ad place robot section, in this section Zigbee receiver is connected. In

    this section robot is used as picking and placing purpose. Robot will perform various actions like

    left, right, up, down, open, close, front, back and stop.

    RF wireless camera mounted on robot section for live video monitoring through PC or

    Laptop.

    A. LPC 2148 Microcontroller The LPC2141/42/44/46/48 microcontrollers are based on a 16-bit/32-bit ARM7TDMI-S. Flash memory ranging from 32 kB to 512 kB. Tiny size and low power consumption,. Serial communications interfaces ranging from a USB 2.0 Full-speed device, multiple UARTs,

    SPI, SSP to I2C-bus and on-chip SRAM of 8 kB up to 40 kB, make these devices very well

    suited for communication.

    Various 32-bit timers, single or dual 10-bit ADC(s), 10-bit DAC, PWM channels and 45 fast GPIO lines.

    Suitable for industrial control and medical systems.

    B. ZIGBEE Technology ZigBee is a high-level communication protocols. ZigBee is based on an IEEE 802.15.4 standard. Though its low power consumption limits transmission distances to 10100 meters line-of-

    sight, depending on power output and environmental characteristics,.

    ZigBee is typically used in low data rate applications that require long battery life and secure networking.

    ZigBee has a defined rate of 250 kbit/s,.

    C. GPRS Module GPRS (General packet radio service) is expected to profoundly change the mobile data

    services that GSM, CDMA and TDMA network operators can offer.

    GPRS will increase opportunities for higher revenues the number of kilobytes of data transferred).

    GPRS combines mobile access with Internet protocol (IP)-based services, using packet data transmission that makes highly efficient use of radio spectrum and enables high data speeds.

    It gives users increased bandwidth, making it possible and cost-effective to remain constantly connected, as well as to send and receive data as text, graphics and video.
