7 WAYS TO BEAT THE HEAT!! Watch Sugar Intake! Avoid alcoholic drinks or anything with large amounts of sugar. Both have dehydrating effects! Hydrate! People tend to forget! Drink small amounts of water more frequently. 8 glasses of water each day (half a gallon of water). Acclimate! Get used to the heat. Take time to slowly adapt to warmer temperatures. Consider adjusting outdoor activities to the earlier or later part of the day (when it’s cooler)! Eat Smaller Meals! Avoid large meals before work activity. Eat smaller and more frequent meals! Take More Short Breaks! If working directly in sun doing vigorous activities, take more frequent short breaks in cool shade! Cool Off! Cool off in front of a fan, wrap a wet towel or bandana around your neck! The idea is to cool off your skin to regulate body temperatures. Avoid Direct Sun Exposure! Wear long sleeves, wear a hat, wear sunscreen, and use/rig a shade structure (tree, umbrella, etc.). Avoid alcoholic drinks or

anything with large amounts of

People tend to forget! Drink small
