7 tips for amazing engagement photos

Tip #1 Always wear clothes that make you feel comfortable. Now of course you could take this too far. You really wouldn’t want to show up to your engagement shoot wearing sweatpants (Unless of course, you’re doing a funny, hyper- realistic engagement shoot saying “Here is what our life together REALLY is like”). You want to wear clothing that you can move freely in, and that make you feel great. Footwear is also important, those super cute stiletto heels are going to be really uncomfortable if you are trekking around a downtown area. If you want to wear cute but uncomfortable shoes for your pictures, at least bring something comfortable for walking around in.

Tip #1Always wear clothes that make you

feel comfortable.

Now of course you could take this too far. You really wouldn’t want to show up to your engagement

shoot wearing sweatpants (Unless of course, you’re doing a funny, hyper-realistic engagement shoot saying “Here is what our life together REALLY is

like”). You want to wear clothing that you can move freely in, and that make you feel great. Footwear is also important, those super cute stiletto heels are

going to be really uncomfortable if you are trekking around a downtown area. If you want to wear cute but uncomfortable shoes for your pictures, at least

bring something comfortable for walking around in.

Tip #2 Incorporate places that are going to bring back memories 50

years from now.Consider going to locations that have meaning to you, or that you frequent now

as a couple. They can be your local coffee shop, a park where you take your walks, a restaurant that you love, or even your first apartment!

Tip# 3Don’t forget to have fun!

We totally get that you aren’t used to having some crazy stranger following you around and taking pictures of

your moments of PDA. Acknowledge to yourself that it is going to be a bit awkward at first. It always is! You are not alone. As the shoot goes let yourself ease into it. If you think of a crazy pose or something fun that you would want to try, just tell your photographer! I

promise, we don’t bite and LOVE it when you communicate with us!

Tip #4Get your bling cleaned.

You know that beautiful ring that you have been wearing for months now? It probably is a little worse for the wear at this point, and could use some TLC to be as shiny as when it was first presented to you. Take it to a jeweler to be cleaned before your shoot (Many jewelry stores have free cleanings as part

of the perks of buying your ring from them)

Tip #5Try to keep both parties involved

in the planning.Sometimes it seems that when it comes to

wedding planning in general, one person in the relationship tends to bear the

brunt of all the planning. This could be a good exercise for married life in general. Try to communicate that these photos

are important to you and that you really want your soon to be spouse’ input.

Sometimes they really would like to be more involved in the planning, but don’t really know how to communicate that.

Tip #6Communicate your likes and

dislikes to your photographer.

Do you like dark and moody photographs, or light and airy? Are you self conscious about

certain skin issues or hate your nearly non-existent eye bags? If you don’t tell your photographer,

they may not see them as an issue that needs to be fixed.

Truthfully, a lot of the things that we dislike about ourselves aren’t terrible apparent to the outside

world. Talk with your photographer. It really makes everything so much easier for

everyone!

Tip #7Be open to doing something different.

Does your photographer have a crazy idea that makes absolutely no sense to you at the time? Maybe she wants to pose you in front of a busy traffic circle at dusk, and then starts talking

gibberish about slow shutter speeds. Give it a chance, it might end up being your favorite shot of the afternoon!
