It will provide physicians, surgeons, nurses, technicians and residents with evidenced-based concepts and techniques in critical care in today’s world. Specialists will provide presentations on current topics and a forum for the exchange of knowledge and ideas on a variety of issues. Panel discussions will also be provided to stimulate dialogue with the audience in a question and answer format. At the completion of this symposium, participants will have enhanced their skills and competence in medical knowledge and understanding of new concepts in the field of trauma and surgical critical care. Physicians, Trauma Surgeons, General Surgeons, Emergency Care Spe- cialists, Neurosurgeons, Orthopaedic Surgeons, Critical Care Specialists, Anesthesiologists, EMS Personnel, Social Workers, Psychiatrists, Physical erapists, Occupational erapists, Speech erapists, Registered Nurses, CRNP, PA, Pharmacists, Respiratory erapists, Medical Students, and other healthcare professionals. is memorial lecture is presented annually to honor the life of William A. L. Mitchell, who died in 2005 from severe traumatic injuries sustained in a car crash. Following his treatment at the USA Trauma Center - in appreciation for the care he received - his family established the endowment and the lecture series both to memorialize William and to improve trauma patient care in our region through education. William was a senior at UMS Wright Preparatory School at the time of his death. e William A.L. Mitchell Lecture has served as a platform to educate and convey trauma awareness to healthcare providers and residents of the Mobile area. Car crashes are one of the lead- ing causes of death among young peo- ple. According to the National High- way Safety and Traffic Administration, education has helped decrease the number of fatalities among teenagers.
