THE NATURE OF HAZARDOUS SITUATIONS
The use of portable automotive lifting devices is subject to certain hazards that cannot be prevented by mechanical means, but only by the exercise of intelligence, care, and common sense. It is therefore essential to have owners and personnel involved in the use and operation of the equipment who are careful, competent, trained, and qualified in the safe operation of the equipment and its proper use. Examples of hazards are dropping, tipping or slipping of loads caused primarily by improperly securing loads, overloading, off-centered loads, use on other than hard level surfaces, and using equipment for a purpose for which it was not designed.
METHODS TO AVOID HAZARDOUS SITUATIONS
• Read,study,understandandfollowallinstructionsbeforeoperatingthisdevice. • Inspectthejackbeforeeachuse.Donotusejackifdamaged,altered,modified,inpoorcondition,leakinghydraulicfluid,or
unstable due to loose or missing hardware or parts. Make corrections before using. • Liftonlyonareasofthevehicleasspecifiedbythevehiclemanufacturer. • WeareyeprotectionthatmeetsANSIZ87.1andOSHAstandards(usersandbystanders). • Donotusejackbeyonditsratedcapacity. • This is a lifting device only. (#S18)islinedupwiththeholeinthehandle-2(#S13).Installthescrews(#S15)intheholestosecurethehandlehalvestogetherandtighten.2. Threadtwonuts(#25)allthewayonthebottomofthetierod-3(#S11).Threadthebottomofthetierod-3(#S11)allthewayinsidetheslotted

Threadanothernut(#25)allthewayonthetierod-1(#S7)andanothernutallthewayonthetopofthetierod-3(#S11).Threadthetierodnut(#S8)allthewayonthetierod-1(#S7).Holdthehandlelock(#S5)downandawayfromthet-handle(#S2)whilesimultaneouslythreadingthetierodnut(#S8)nutontothetierod-3(#S11).Threadthetierodnutonthetieroduntilanequalamountoftierodthreadlengthisengagedonbothtierods(#S7and#S11).
4. Raisethehandlelock(#S5)upsotheslottedpin(#S12)doesnotcomeincontactwithanyofthethreeholesintheadjustableframe(#11).Removethescrew(#13)fromthehandlesocket(#12).Insertthehandleassembly(#22)inthehandlesocket(#12)whilesimultaneouslyinsertingtheslottedpin(#S12)intheadjustableframe(#11)holes.Makesuretheholeinthelowerportionofthehandleassembly(#22)alignswiththethreadedholeinthehandlesocket(#12)andsecurethemtogetherwiththescrew(#13).Movethehandleupanddownwhilesimultaneouslypullingthehandlelock(#S5)downsotheslottedpin(#S12)willengagewithanyofthethreelockingholesintheadjustableframe(#11).Makesuretheslottedpinwillengageallthreeholes.Itmightbenecessarytoadjustthenuts(#25)andtierodnut(#S8)inordertogetproperengagement.Afterfinaladjustment,tightenallnuts.
5. Installtheairquickdisconnectofyourchoiceintheairvalveassembly(#20).Putatleasttwowrapsofpipedopetapearoundthedisconnectthreads before installation to prevent air leaks.
6. Installthesaddlesupportbracket(#23)onthehandle-2tube(#S13)inthepositionasshownonthecoveroftheOwner’sManualandsecuretheadaptorsinthebracketholesusingther-pins(#29).
7. Sometimesairgetstrappedinthehydraulicsystemduringshipment.Anairboundhydraulicsystemfeelsspongywhenpumped:PURGING AIR FROM THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM a. Openthereleasevalvebyturningtheknob(#S1)atthetopofthehandleinacounterclockwisedirectiontwofullturnsfromtheclosed
position. b. Depresstheairvalveassembly(#20)forapproximately30seconds. c. Closethereleasevalvebyturningtheknob(#S1)inaclockwisedirectionuntiltight. d. Depresstheairvalveassembly(#20)untiltheram(#P27)raisestomaximumheight. e. Repeatsteps"a"through"d"untilalltheairispurgedfromthesystem.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
This is the safety alert symbol used for the OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS section of this manual to alert you to potential personal injury hazards. Obey all instructions to avoid possible injury or death.
IMPORTANT: Before attempting to raise any vehicle, check vehicle service manual for recommended lifting surfaces.
1. Becomefamiliarwiththeidentificationandfunctionoftheoperatingjackcomponents. a. Theram(#P27)istheshaftthatcomesoutofthejackwhenyoudepresstheairvalveassembly(#20). b. Theram(#P27)isequippedwithanextensionscrewwhichcanbeunscrewedtoextendfromtheramifthereisnotenoughhydraulicstroke
toraisetheloadtothedesiredheight.Ifadditionalheightisrequired,extensionadapters(#26,#27and#28)canbeinsertedintheholeontop of the extension screw.
c. Largerdiametersaddlescanbeinsertedintheextensionscrewwhenrequiringalargerdiametersaddlesurface.2. Chockthevehicle'stiresthatwillnotbeliftedoffthegroundpriortoliftingthevehicleandifavailable,applytheemergencybrakeoranyother
method of braking.3. Positionthejackatthedesignatedliftpoint.Estimatetherequiredramtraveltoraisethevehicletothedesiredheight.Ifthedesiredvehicleheight
exceeds the entire ram travel, unscrew the extension screw to make up the difference and add an extension adapter if necessary.4. Lockthehandleassembly(#22)inapositionthatwillnotinterferewiththevehiclewhenraisedorlowered.Keepthehandleinthatlockedposition
until the work is completed and you are ready to remove the jack from use.5. Withthejackintheloweredposition,pushthejackunderthevehicle.IMPORTANT:Usethevehiclemanufacturer'srecommendedlifting
proceduresandliftingpointsbeforeliftingloads.Turntheknob(#S1)clockwiseuntilitstops.6. Inmostcases100psiginputairpressure(donotexceed200psig)willliftthemaximumcapacityloadnottoexceed50tons.Depresstheair
valveassembly(#20)untilthetopoftheram(#P27)comesclosetothedesignatedliftpoint.Makesurethedesignatedliftpointisflat,paralleltothegroundandfreefromgrease,anykindoflubricant,anddebris.Proceedwithpumpingthejackinordertoliftthevehicletothedesiredheight.Duringlifting,inspectthepositionofthejackinrelationtothegroundandtheram(#P27)inrelationshiptotheloadtopreventanyunstableconditions from developing. If conditions look like they are becoming unstable, slowly lower the load and make appropriate setup corrections after theloadisfullylowered.Loweringtheloadisaccomplishedbyslowlyturningtheknob(#S1)inacounterclockwisedirection.
7.Whenthevehicleorloadisliftedtoitsdesiredheight,immediatelyplacesafetysupportstands(jackstands)intheirdesignatedlocationsandadjustthestands'supportcolumnsupasclosetothedesignatedvehiclesupportpointsaspossible.Althoughjackstandsareindividuallyrated,theyaretobeusedinamatchedpairtosupportoneendofthevehicleonly.Standsarenottobeusedtosimultaneouslysupportbothendsoronesideofavehicle.Slowlyturntheknob(#S1)inacounterclockwisedirectiontolowerthevehicleontothesafetysupportstands(jackstands).Makesurethevehicleissafelysupportedbythesafetysupportstands'(jackstands)saddlesandnotthelocatinglugsofthesaddles.Inspecttherelationshipofthesafetysupportstands(jackstands)withthegroundandthesafetysupportstand(jackstand)columnsandsaddleswiththevehicletopreventanyunstableconditions.Ifconditionslookunstable,turntheknob(#S1)clockwiseanddepresstheairvalve(#20)toraisethevehicleoffthesafetysupportstands(jackstands).Maketheappropriatesetupchangesandslowlyandcarefullylowerthevehicleontothesafetysupport stand saddles.
8. Aftertheworkisdone,pumpthejackhighenoughtoremovethevehicleorloadfromthesafetysupportstandsaddles.Besureloadisstable.Ifitisnot,lowerloadbackontosafetysupportstands.Makeappropriatesetupcorrectionsandrepeatthestepagain.Removethesafetysupportstands from under the vehicle, being very careful not to move the vehicle.
9. Slowlyturntheknob(#S1)inacounterclockwisedirectiontolowerthevehicleorloaddowntotheground.

PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE
This is the safety alert symbol used for the PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE section of this manual to alert you to potential personal injury hazards. Obey all instructions to avoid possible injury or death.
IMPORTANT: The number one cause of jack failure in air/hydraulic jacks is dirt and moisture in the air motor and/or hydraulic system. The shop air supply should be equipped with water and dirt filter traps that should be emptied or cleaned according to a monthly maintenanceschedule.Aninlineoillubricatorwillextendthelifeofair/hydraulicjacks.Inoperablejackscausedbypoorlyequippedor maintainedshopairsystemsarenoteligibleforwarrantyconsideration.Contaminantscanalsoentertheair/hydraulicsystemwhen theshopairlineisdisconnectedfromthejackairlineandthelineisdroppedonthefloor.Contaminantsintheaircouplers,oncereconnected, will be driven into the system. 1. Alwaysstorethejackinawellprotectedareawhereitwillnotbeexposedtoinclementweather,corrosivevapors,abrasivedust,or
any other harmful elements. The jack must be cleaned of water, snow, sand, grit, oil, grease or other foreign matter before using.2. Thejackmustbelubricatedperiodicallyinordertopreventprematurewearingofparts.Ageneralpurposegreasemustbeapplied
tothethreadsontheextensionscrew.Donotlubricateanyportionoftheliftsaddleandmakesurethesaddleisfreefromgrease,any kind of lubricant, or debris before using the jack. Jacks found to be defective due to worn parts resulting from inadequate or no lubrication are not eligible for warranty consideration.
3. Itshouldnotbenecessarytorefillortopoffthereservoirwithhydraulicfluidunlessthereisanexternalleak.Anexternalleakrequires immediate repair which must be performed in a dirt-free environment by qualified hydraulic repair personnel who are familiarwiththisequipment.AuthorizedServiceCentersarerecommended.IMPORTANT: In order to prevent seal damage and jack failure,neverusealcohol,hydraulicbrakefluid,ortransmissionoilinthejack.Usehydraulicjackoil,ChevronHydraulicOilAWISO32oritsequivalentUnocalUnaxAW150.
4. Everyjackownerisresponsibleforkeepingthejacklabelcleanandreadable.Useamildsoapsolutiontowashexternalsurfacesof the jack but not any moving hydraulic components.
5. Inspectthejackbeforeeachuse.Donotusethejackifanycomponentiscracked,broken,bent,showssignofdamageorleakshydraulicfluid.Donotusethejackifithaslooseormissinghardwareorcomponents,orismodifiedinanyway.Takecorrectiveaction before using the jack again.
6. Donotattempttomakeanyhydraulicrepairsunlessyouareaqualifiedhydraulicrepairpersonthatisfamiliarwiththisequipment.
TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM: UNIT WILL NOT LIFT RATED LOAD.ACTION: PurgeairfromhydraulicsystembyfollowingprocedureunderSETUP.
PROBLEM: UNIT WILL NOT SUSTAIN RATED LOAD OR FEELS “SPONGY” UNDER RATED LOAD.ACTION: Purgeairfromhydraulicsystemasabove.
PROBLEM: UNIT WILL NOT LIFT TO FULL HEIGHT.ACTION: Purgeairfromhydraulicsystemasaboveorcheckoillevelinreservoir.
PROBLEM: UNIT STILL DOES NOT OPERATE.ACTION: Contactyourplaceofpurchasefordetailsonhandlingwarranty.

K-Tool International warrants that all jacks and service-related equipment will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a periodof2yearsfollowingtheoriginaldateofpurchase.Thiswarrantyisextendedtotheoriginalretailpurchaseronly.Ifanyjackorservice-relateditemprovestobedefectiveduringthisperiod,itwillbereplacedorrepaired,atK-ToolInternational’soption,withoutcharge. This warranty does not apply to damage from accident, overload, misuse or abuse, nor does it apply to any equipment which has been altered or used with special attachments other than those recommended. This warranty does not cover repairs made by anyonewhoisnotaK-ToolInternationalProfessionalLiftingEquipmentAuthorizedRepairCenter.

c. Lassillasdediámetromásgrandepodráninsertarseeneltornillodeextensiónalmomentoderequerirunasuperficiedesilladediámetro grande.
2. Antesdeelevarelvehículo,calcelasllantasdelvehículolasquenoseelevarándelpisoysiesdisponible,apliqueelfrenodeemergencias o cualquier otro método de frenado.
3. Coloqueelgatoenelpuntodesignadodeelevación.Estimeelrecorridorequeridodelejeparaelevarelvehículohastalaalturadeseada.Silaalturadeseadadelvehículoexcedeelrecorridoenterodeleje,desatornilleeltornillodeextensiónparaalcanzarladiferenciayagregue un adaptador de extensión según sea necesario.
4. Bloqueeelmango(#22)enunaposiciónlaquenointerferiráconelvehículocuandoésteestélevantadoobajado.Mantengaelmangoendicha posición bloqueada hasta que el trabajo esté completado y usted esté listo para extraer el gato del uso.
5. Cuandoelgatoestáenlaposiciónmásbaja,empujeelgatoaestardebajodelvehículo.IMPORTANTE:Uselosprocedimientosdelevantamiento y puntos de levantamiento recomendados del fabricante antes de elevar las cargas. Turntheknob(#S1)clockwiseuntilitstops.
6. Enlamayoríadeloscasosunapresióndeairedeentradade100psig(noexcedalas200psig)elevaráunacargadelamáximacapacidad,denoexcederlas50toneladas.Depresstheairvalve(#20)hastaquelapartesuperiordeleje(#P27)seacerquealpuntodelevantamientodesignado.Asegúresequeelpuntodelevantamientodesignadoestéplano,paraleloalpisoylibredegrasa,cualquiertipodelubricaciónyescombros.Procedaabombearelgatoconelfindeelevarelvehículohastalaalturadeseada.Duranteellevantamiento,inspeccionelaposicióndelgatoconrelaciónalpisoyeleje(#P27)conrelaciónalacargaconelfindeprevenirquesedesarrollecualquiercondicióninestable.Silascondicionesaparentanqueseestánvolviendoinestables,bajelacargalentamenteyrealicelascorrecciones de montaje adecuadas después de que la carga esté completamente bajada. IMPORTANTE:Lacausanúmerounoporlasfallasenlosgatosdeaire/hidráulicoseslatierrayhumedadenelmotordeairey/o sistemahidráulico. El suministro de aire del taller debe estar equipado con filtros trampa de agua y tierra los cuales deben servaciadosolimpiadossegúnunprogramamensualdemantenimiento.Unlubricadoralinteriordelalíneadeaceiteextenderálavidadelosgatosdeaire/hidráulicos.Losgatosqueseaninoperablesocasionadoporsistemasdeairedetaller,debidoalpobreequipamientooalmantenimientoinadecuado,nosonelegiblesparaconsideracionesdegarantía.Loscontaminantestambiénpueden entrar al sistema de aire/hidráulico cuando la línea de aire del taller esté desconectado de la línea de aire del gato y la línea secaigaenelpiso.Loscontaminantesenlosacopladoresdeaire,unavezreconectados,seránconducidosatravésdelsistema.ualquier gato que se encuentre ser defectuoso como resultado de partes desgastadas debido a una falta de lubricación o un sistema hidráulico/neumático contaminado con agua, corrosión, y/o partículas extrañas provenientes del suministro de aire u otra fuente externa no es elegible para consideraciones de garantía.
1. Siempreguardeelgatoenunáreaprotegida,endondenoquedeexpuestoalascondicionesclimáticas,gasescorrosivos,sustanciasabrasivasuotrosmaterialesperjudiciales.Antesdeusar,compruebequeelgatonocontengarestosdeagua,nieve,arena o arcilla.
2. Elgatosedebelubricarenformaperiódicaafindeprevenireldesgasteprematurodesuspartes.Sedebeaplicargrasadeusogeneral en todas las articulaciones, las ruedas pivotantes y del eje delantero, el brazo elevador, los pernos pivotantes de la base de la palanca, el sistema de seguridad y las demás superficies de apoyo. Cualquiergatoqueseencuentradefectuosocomoresultado de contaminantes extraños en el sistema hidráulico no es elegible para consideraciones de garantía.
3. Noseránecesariorellenarorellenarhastaeltopeelrecipienteconelfluidohidráulico,almenosquehayaunafugaexterna.Unafuga externa requiere la reparación inmediata la cual debe realizarse en un ambiente libre de suciedad por parte de personal calificadoenlasreparacioneshidráulicasyquienesesténfamiliarizadosconesteequipo.Serecomiendanloscentrosdeservicioautorizados. IMPORTANTE:Conelfindeprevenirdañosalselloylafalladegato,nuncausealcohol,líquidodefrenohidráuiliconiaceiteparatransmisionesenelgato.UseaceitehidráulicoAWISO32deChevronosuequivalenteUnocalUnaxAW150.
4. Elpropietariodelgatoesresponsabledemantenersusetiquetasenbuenestadodeconservación.Useunasoluciónjabonosasuave para lavar el exterior del gato, sin aplicarla a ninguna de las partes del sistema hidráulico.
5. Verifiqueelgatoantesdeusarlo.Nouseelgatosialgunadesuspartesestáquebrada,rota,torcidaodañada,nicuandoelsistemahidráulicotengafugas.Nouseelgatosipresentaalteracionesoesinestabledebidoapiezasmetálicasopartesdesjustadas o faltantes. Tome las medidas de corrección apropiadas antes de usar el gato otra vez.
6. Norepareelsistemahidráulicoamenosqueseauntécnicocalificadoqueconozcaelfuncionamientodeestedispositivo.
DIAGNóSTICO DE AVERíAS
PROBLEMA: EL EQUIPO NO LEVANTARÁ LA CARGA.ACCIÓN: ExpulsaelairedelsistemahidráulicoalseguirelprocedimientobajoLASINSTRUCCIONESDEOPERACIÓN.
PROBLEMA: EL EQUIPO NO SOSTENDRÁ LA CARGA O SE SIENTE.ACCIÓN: Expulsa el aire del sistema hidráulico como indicado anteriormente.esponjoso bajo la carga.
PROBLEMA: EL EQUIPO NO LEVANTARÁ LA CARGA HASTA LA ALTURA NORMAL.ACCIÓN: Purgueelairedelsistemahidráulicosegúnloanteriororeviseelniveldeaceiteenelrecipiente.
PROBLEMA: EL EQUIPO AÚN NO FUNCIONA.ACCIÓN: Comuníqueseconsulugardecompraporlosdetallesdelagarantíademaniobra.
INSTRUCCIONES DE USO7.Cuandoelvehículoolacargaestálevantadahastasualturadeseada,coloqueinmediatamentelasbasesdesoportedeseguridad(las
basesparagato)ensusubicacionesdesignadasyajustelascolumnasdesoportedelasbases,lomáscercanoposiblealospuntosdesoportedesignadosdelvehículo.Aunquelasbasesparagatoestánclasificadasindividualmente,éstasdebendeusarseenunparem-parejado,parasoportarsólounextremodelvehículo.Lasbasesnodeberánusarseparasoportarambosextremosounladodelvehículo.Slowlyturntheknob(#S1)inacounterclockwisedirectionparabajarelvehículosobrelasbasesdesoportedeseguridad(lasbasesparagato).Asegúresequeelvehículoestésoportadoseguramenteporlassillasdelasbases(lasbasesparagato)desoportedeseguridadynoporlasagarraderasdeubicacióndelassillas.Inspeccionelarelaciónentrelasbasesdesoportedeseguridad(lasbasesparagato)yelpisoylascolumnasysillasdelabasedesoportedeseguridad(baseparagato)conrespectoalvehículo,conelfindeprevenircual-quiercondicióninestable.Silascondicionesaparentanestarinestables,turntheknob(#S1)clockwiseanddepresstheairvalve(#20) para elevarelvehículodelasbasesdesoportedeseguridad(basesparagato).Asegúresederealizarloscambiosdemontajeadecuadosybaje el vehículo lentamente y de forma cuidadosa sobre las sillas de la bases de soporte de seguridad.
8. Despuésdequesetermineeltrabajo,pump el gato lo suficientemente alto para extraer el vehículo o la carga de las sillas de la base desoportedeseguridad.Asegúresequelacargaestéestable.Sinolaesté,bajelacarganuevamentesobrelasbasesdesoportedeseguridad.Realicelascorreccionesdemontajeadecuadasyrepitalospasosdenuevo.Extraigalasbasesdesoportedeseguridaddedebajo del vehículo, siendo muy cuidadosa de no mover el vehículo.
9. Slowlyturntheknob(#S1)inacounterclockwisedirectionpara bajar el vehículo o carga hasta el piso.
