You made your choice from a selection of rollerbanner stands. You have spent hours on the

design and you have now taken delivery of yourprized and much-coveted promotional material.

Now, you need the investment in thispromotional material to work as hard as it

possibly can for your business, pulling as muchrevenue and interest from potential customers

as it possibly can.

Footfall

Clearly, placing your roller banner where customers will see it is key. It seems almost too

obvious a point to list but you would be amazed at the number of roller banners that

languish in a corner of a store or shopping mall.

You had these banners designed for a reason and so you need to make sure that your

banner is in a location where people can see it. However, there are some things you need

to bear in mind:

> Bear in mind where people look where they first enter a space – research has found that

most customers will turn or look to the right when they enter a store.

> Most people do this subconsciously, meaning that they do not notice. Know that you

have this gem of information, you have one idea of where your roller banner could be in

sight.

> Place it close to where you want customers to gravitate to – if you are using the roller

banner to sell pink t-shirts, it makes sense that it is in the area where the product actually is.

> Constantly assess customers and how they behave – watching your customers and

noticing where the eyes fall or move to can be beneficial in deciding where to locate your

roller banner; the ‘obvious’ spots are not always the best.

> Think safety – roller banners, in some situations, could be a trip hazard so do a risk

assessment first.

The entranceRoller banners contain importantinformation. You may have a header –new store opening today – followed bya sub-heading – great opening offers forthis week only – which is in slightlysmaller font. You may then have subsections about all the offers that are onthis week and these would be in slightlysmaller font again which, even with20/20 vision a customer cannot readfrom metres away.

They have to come over to read it. Andthey do. Before you know it, they are inthe entrance of yourshop/unit/booth/market stall/office etc.

At A TradeShow

Roller banners are possibly at their most

effective at a trade show – if they are designed

well and used in a way that draws attention.

In a retail unit, banners at the entrance may

work well but, with a trade show booth you

want to keep that space open in terms of

vision. In this sense, roller banners can work

really well as a back drop to your stand,

making products and so on, stand out in the

crowd (just make sure they are not I the main

gangway in between booths).

Don’t HideIt!

Number 4

The roller banner is a cost-effectivepiece of promotional kit. You havespent time and money designing it,and having it printed, so don’t hide itaway. It can be helpful to decide onwhere you will put your roller bannerbefore you order it.

This is because in some areas, youmay need a smaller roller banner thanin others. Or, you may decide that youwant to use the banner to fill a certainspace, and you can opt for a largersize.

Move it!Number 5 The roller banner is an incredibly versatile piece of kit too. This

is why they are popular with so many businesses, especiallythose who are regulars on the exhibition or trade show circuit.

They can be easily transported and easily moved too. So, if youdon’t feel that people are seeing or taking any notice of the

roller banner, you simply pick it up and move it.

Watching how people engage with the information will informyour whether you need to move it, or whether it is a design orinformation issue. Either way, roller banners are popular – and

for very good reasons.
