5 THINGS LESSONBy Gwen Moffat Davis
5 THINGS GOD DID FOR US:
(Visual 1a: 2 Hearts) We are born into the family of GodWhen we responded with repentance and faith to His invitation, He gave us power to become His child! (John 1:12)We were born again into His family. (John 3:3)
(Visual 2a: Book & hand) God writes our namesOur names were recorded in the big family book in Heaven. (Luke 10:20) The angels rejoiced when we repented. (Luke 15:10)
(Visual3a: Throne) God becomes our FatherGod is now our Everlasting Father. (Isaiah 9:6)His Spirit within us cries “Abba Father”-“Daddy”. (Romans 8:15)He gives us Everlasting Life. (John 3:16)
(Visual 4a: Children) We are born into a family from around the world. We look different and speak different, but we have been born of His same Spirit. We are all one body. (Ephesians 4:4) “You are a chosen generation…a holy nation.” (1Peter 2:9)
(Visual 5a: Power) God gives us powerAs His sons and daughters, Father God loves us like He loved Jesus! (John 17:23)He gives us POWER over all the power of the enemy. (Luke 10:19; James 4:7; Matthew 10:1)
5 THINGS WE DO FOR HIM:
(Visual 1b: Baby) Read the BibleWe feed on His word like a baby feeds on milk, so we can grow strong spiritually. (1Peter 2:2; Psalm 1:2-3; 2Timothy 3:15) Our Father does not want us to remain “spiritual babies.” He wants us to mature into the image of our elder brother, Jesus! (1John 3:2)
(Visual 2b: Prayer) PrayAs His sons and daughters, because of the blood of Jesus, we can come boldly to His throne in prayer (Hebrews 4:16) We can talk to our Father day and night! (Mathew 6:9; 1Thessalonians 5:17)We can:
Thank Him (1Thessalonians 5:18)Praise Him (Psalm 100:4)Ask Him to meet our needs (Matthew 7:7)

Pray for laborers to reach the lost (Matthew 9:38)Listen for Him to speak to our heart (1Corinthians 2:9-10)Pray for the government (1Timothy 2:1-2)Pray for other believers (Ephesians 6:18)Pray for our enemies (Matthew 5:44)Pray for the lost people who do not know Him (1Timothy 2:1)
(Visual 3b: Girl with book) Tell others the good newsBecause we love Him, we want to tell others how wonderful it is to be His child and how they can become part of God’s family. We can:
Evangelize: This means to tell others the good news. (Mark 16:15; Mark 1:17)Teach: We can teach others the things we have learned. (2Timothy 2:2)
(Visual 4b: 3 friends praising) Fellowship with other believersWe need to meet together regularly with others who love Jesus. (Hebrews 10:25)When even two or three of us gather together in His name, God is with us! (Matthew 18:19)When our hearts and minds are in agreement (unity), He commands a blessing! (Psalm 133)Praise and Worship: When we come together to worship Jesus, we can often feel His presence. We praise Him with testimonies, choruses, old hymns, and new songs given by the Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 5:19-21)
(Visual 5b: Heart with worldly things in it) Be led by the Holy Spirit
If we say “NO” to the temptations of our fl esh and of the Devil, and “YES” to the Holy Spirit, we are being “led by the Spirit.” As many are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons and daughters of God! (Romans 8:14) He loves us so much that every time we are tempted to sin, His Spirit warns us and gives us a way to not sin! (1Corinthians 10:13)Jesus was tempted in every way like we are and yet He never sinned. He is sitting in Heaven at the right hand of the Father, praying for us. (Hebrews 4:15)
