Age

Young children can feel something

isn’t right, the younger the less

they grieve

Culture

Amish believe that when a person

dies they have left the physical

world to be in the afterlife with

god rather than focusing on the

physical loss of an individual

Religion

Atheists don’t think too much

about death they just accept it as

it is, they aren’t afraid to die

Denial: “this isn’t happening

to me” No crying or accepting

the loss

Anger: “why me?” the feeling

of wanting to fight back

Bargaining: begging, wishing

and praying for them to come

back

Depression: bitterness,

mourning, hopelessness,

feeling lack of control, and

frustration

Acceptance: finding the good

that can come out of the bad

Dealing with Grief

What the five stages of grief mean:

Personal Experience

Dealing with grief is hard for anyone no matter age you are or what the situation

is. People deal with grief differently in every situation they go through. When

my grandma died I went through all five stages and it was a very long process.

When I worked in a nursing home I went right to acceptance. We all find our own

comfort throughout life.
