So, you just bought your ticket, huh? No, Im not talking about
the Super Bowl, The Masters...or any event impossible to gain
admission too.
Something way bigger than those: the chance to change your life and do something that
more and more people are discovering everyday. Welcome to the world of Internet Marketing.
If this is your first time on MetaFever, or an online marketing site in general...Im glad youre

As you begin to make your way up the endless mountain of information, tips, tricks and
everything in between - there are some basic concepts, I believe, you should commit to
memory...and seek to implement everyday.
Even if this is your 10th year (I think weve been doing this for 10 years) in the online marketing
sphere - a little refresher never hurt no one. Lets jump right in:
Know the language
The second you start Googleing articles on blogging, online marketing, Internet
marketing...regardless of your chosen keyword - youll soon encounter foreign phrases and
acronyms. What does unique visitor mean? When I first started learning the craft...I saw posts
on Digital Point and Warrior forum asking, how do you know if someone is really a unique
visitor if you cant see their clothes or what they look like? Of course, I laughed. But, truthfully -
weve all been there and asked similar questions.
Your best bet is to Google Internet marketing glossary, or go straight over to the one at SEO
Book...and youll be on your way.
Always be in the moment
Its easy to get caught up in what your blog CAN do or
HOW MUCH your affiliate campaigns can generate.
However, never lose sight of the immediate tasks. If you
need to spend the next 3 hours writing headlines and
descriptions for Pay Per Click (PPC) campaigns...jump
right in and get it done. Save the dreaming for later.

One day, youll love Excel
Yea, Im taking about the program in Microsoft Office most try to avoid in college. No, not the
one youve never heard of...that would be Access.
When it comes time for budgets, marketing data and making sense of a failing (or succeeding)
campaigns...knowing how to build formulas, run macros or insert charts will take you a long way
toward online marketing freedom.
All in the name of optimization
Regardless of how much dough is rolling in...your campaigns are never perfect. I dont care
how many visitors your blog is getting - it can always be better. However, it will always be
counterproductive to fix something that isnt broken. Optimizing does not mean fixing. An astute
marketer is always aware of the world around him.
Learning never stops
Chris Brogan had a great article a fewdaysback, titled NeverAvoid a Classroom. Some of the
concepts included: Criticism can be a classroom, school desks are everywhere, books can be a
classroom..etc. The point is - learning is a lifetime sport. There is always a new feature, tip, best
practice or possible marketing avenue. Of course the Internet will not always be a mega growth
industry...but, Coke is always looking for ways to improve their brand and outreach. So should
you.
