The drug smugglers have been identified as Shabir Ahmed Chopan, son of Mohd Shahban Chopan resident of Krawah, Tehsil Banihal and Yawar Ahmed son of Mohd Ashraf Dar resident of Charsoo Awantipora. Reports said that on a specific information, a special Naka was laid at T Chowk Banihal and during checking two pedes- trians were signalled to stop but they tried to run backwards towards Railway Station. The alert cops on Naka chased and overpowered them and during frisking of their baggage, one kilogram of Charas got recovered. Duo was arrested and a case vide FIR No 28/2019 was registered against them at Police Station Banihal. Teenage girl attempts suicide STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: A teenage girl attempted suicide by consum- ing poisonous substance in her house in Ramnagar on Tuesday. According to report, 15 years Babita Devi daughter of Ashok Kumar resident of village Sunal (Jaganoo) in Ramnagar took some poisonous substances in her house. On seeing her lying unconscious her family members shifted her to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors washed her stomach and till filing last report her condition was stated be stable. Police registered a case and launched the investiga- tion. Absconder arrested STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: Police on Tuesday arrested an accused evading his arrest in a case of Police Station Rajouri. Absconder namely Wazir Mohammad son of Mohammad Shafi resident of Nariyan village of Nowshehra Tehsil was wanted in case FIR 157/2010 registered under sections 353,147,148,149, 336,201,204,205 RPC but he was evading his arrest from October 2014. Based on a specific information, a team of police headed by Incharge Police Post Chingus Chatyar, SI MD Khan raided a location in Nariyan area and arrested the absconder who was than produced before Honb'le court of law from where he has been taken in judicial custody. Taking note and on the basis of complaint submitted by vic- tim, a case 14/2019 under sections 307, 323, 341 RPCs was registered in police station Thanamandi. Residents appealed to the president MCU to ensure proper cleaning of lane and drains so that people can heave a sigh of relief from insanitary condition. ‘Indira NagarWard No 2 facing councillor’s indifference’ STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: District admin- istration Rajouri on Tuesday released financial aid amounting 1,10,63,700 rupees under state disaster response fund. Aid has been released in 115 cases of damage of houses, cattle sheds and other structures in the year 2018-19. A committee of adminis- tration headed by additional district development com- missioner Rajouri examined all the cases which were than put before district magistrate Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Assad who accorded sanction for release of financial aid. These cases include 36 from Kotranka Budhal, 34 from Darhal, 13 from Rajouri, 03 from Manjakote, 18 from Thanamandi, 05 from Nowshera, 03 from Khawas, 02 from Sunderbani and 01 from Siot. A total financial aid released for all these cases is 1,10,63700 rupees. DDC Rajouri said that with the release of today's financial aid by district administration, there is no pendency of such cases now. He further said reaching to the families affected in natural calamities and other such incidents is a prime priority of district administration for which field officers have also been directed to submit the loss assessment report at the earliest after the incident so that the cases for financial loss can be processed. RAJOURI: District admin-istration Rajouri onTuesday released financialaid amounting 1,10,63,700rupees under state disasterresponse fund.

Aid has been released in115 cases of damage ofhouses, cattle sheds andother structures in the year2018-19.

A committee of adminis-tration headed by additionaldistrict development com-missioner Rajouri examinedall the cases which werethan put before districtmagistrate RajouriMohammad Aijaz Assadwho accorded sanction forrelease of financial aid.

These cases include 36from Kotranka Budhal, 34from Darhal, 13 fromRajouri, 03 from

Manjakote, 18 fromThanamandi, 05 fromNowshera, 03 fromKhawas, 02 fromSunderbani and 01 fromSiot.

A total financial aidreleased for all these casesis 1,10,63700 rupees.

DDC Rajouri said thatwith the release of today'sfinancial aid by districtadministration, there is nopendency of such cases now.

He further said reachingto the families affected innatural calamities andother such incidents is aprime priority of districtadministration for whichfield officers have also beendirected to submit the lossassessment report at theearliest after the incident sothat the cases for financialloss can be processed.

STATE TIMES NEWSR S PURA: President of theNational Mazdoor Conference(NMC) Subash Shastri onTuesday urged the Governoradministration to makeamendments in the SRO-520,adding that SRO 520 needsamendments including provi-sion of wages of need-base,casual and seasonal labourerswho have been included anduploaded through biometricidentification in daily-ratedworkers list but not being paidagainst any wages head inroutine, allotment of properscale while their conversion inregular cadre, need basedworkers who are in the list butnot paid even single time bepaid like other workers bymaking their budgetary provi-sion against wages head.

"Proper amendments inSRO 520 should be incorpo-rated so that cumbersome ver-ification process should not bea cause of inconvenience forthese daily rated workersadding that the need of thehour is that the state Govt.should set the process inmotions to avoid any furtherdelay and the high ups of theState Govt. should be asked toaccelerate the process so as toavoid confusion if any arisingin the mid of likely beneficiar-ies."
