Welcome Note

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

We are happy to announce the 30th International Congress of Clinical Neurophysiology (ICCN2014) of the International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology (IFCN). The ICCN2014 will take place in Berlin from March 20–23, 2014 and will be organized in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the German Society for Clinical Neurophysiology and Functional Imaging (DGKN) scheduled from March 19–22, 2014. The vibrant city of Berlin is an ideal venue in the heart of Europe and can easily be reached by airplane, train and car. Berlin as the capital of Germany and harbors many famous museums and galleries as well as concert halls, theaters, restaurants and pubs and is the traditional link between the East- and West-European cultures. The congress venue, the Estrel Hotel, has hosted many large international meetings and is situated close to the center of Berlin. It offers sufficient space for plenaries, symposia, workshops, seminars and courses. Accommodation is available at the Estrel and many other hotels in the surroundings and the city center in all categories.

Modern Clinical Neurophysiology is changing. The ICCN2014 will represent the classical methods such as EMG, NCS, EEG and evoked potentials in scientific sessions and educational courses, as well as advanced clinical neurophysiology using event related brain potentials and fMRI or modern therapeutic or interventional approaches such as invasive and non invasive brain stimulation. It will also cover closely linked imaging methods such as ultrasound, especially high resolution ultrasound and MRI of muscle, nerve and brain. ICCN2014 shall also show how these methods are embedded in the clinical context studying neuromuscular disorders, epilepsy, sleep, pain, cognitive and central movement disorders, brain plasticity in stroke, neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation and others.The ICCN2014 registration fee will be fair and we will provide a special registration fee for students. The IFCN will offer fellowships for a significant number of selected presenting participants.

Educational Program

ICCN Teaching Program • March 20–23, 2014 In addition to the scientific program of the ICCN a comprehensive international teaching program will be organized parallel to the congress.

We engaged many highly renown and famous clinicians and scientists for the training program. As a unique characteristic the program offers a comprehensive methodological review of the subjects, dealing not only with electrophysiology, but also with ultrasound and MR imaging, as well as pathophysiology and genetics. Whenever feasible, case discussions and sessions with patients will be included. For quality reasons, the number of participants will be limited in several teaching sessions.

Every participant will receive an official certificate of attendance of the International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology (IFCN), certifying for CME credits.

Registration and FeesThe fee for each course will soon be available online. Registration is possible from June 1, 2013. Please register online via www.iccn2014.de.

German Scientific ProgramThe ICCN 2014 is organized in conjunction with the 58th Annual Meeting of the German Society of Clinical Neurophysiology and Functional Imaging (DGKN) and the German Teaching Program of the Richard-Jung-Kolleg (RJK). The program will be announced separately. More information is available online at www.dgkn-kongress.de.

Poster SessionsPoster presentations will receive great attention during the meeting. They will be placed centrally in the meeting rooms, we will reserve much time in the program for the posters, many renown scientists will chair the poster presentations, and several poster prices will be awarded. We encourage the submission of posters, both from young as well as from advanced scientists, and will ask the senior authors to also be present at the posters during the poster sessions if pos-sible. We hope that many recent important studies and inventions in the field of clinical neurophysiology and functional imaging will be presented. Poster presenters may also volunteer for an inclusion of their talk into an oral symposium.

ICCN Travel GrantsThe ICCN is offering a number of travel grants to young particpants from economically disadvantaged countries whose abstracts have been accepted for the congress.

Education Credits and Certification of the Scientific ProgramThe 30th International Congress of Clinical Neurophysiology (ICCN) will be certified by the European Accrediation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) and will be certified with European CME credits (ECMEC).

The 58th Annual Meeting of the German Society for Clinical Neurophysiology and Functional Imaging (DGKN) will be certified by the Medical Association of Berlin with CME credits.Additionally, the German Society for Epilepsy (DGfE) will certify several sessions of the DGKN program.
