The idea to develop 2200 Sound came from a union of two musical endeavors: a youth music organization and a small professional recording studio.

Freq Lab Recording

Freq Lab Recording is a leading commercial recording studio in the bay area.

• Represent a large client base of professional musicians, producers and song writers

• Will provide equipment and engineering staff • Have extensive knowledge of music industry and local market• Developed a membership based model using a point system



Youth Rock the Rebuild

Youth Rock the Rebuild is an organization dedicated to creating opportunities for youth musicians to collaborate and perform.• Started in 2008 with just 20 students; has grown to 120 students representing 15

schools

• At our first benefit concert, we raised nearly $11,000 to build a schoolhouse in Aleta Wondo, Ethiopia

• Since 2008, we have raised more $50,000 additionally to support various charitable organizations such as the Windhorse Foundation, Architecture for Humanity, Students Rebuild, and Kiddo!

• Volunteers include such notable musicians as Bob Weir, Jimmy Dillon and others

• 2200 Sound will create a much-needed space where musicians of all ages can come together to rehearse, record, participate in workshops and classes and collaborate.

• This legendary recording studio first opened in 1972 and was one of three studios operated by The Record Plant, a recording company based in LA

• Over the years everyone from the likes of Fleetwood Mac (which recorded their album “Rumours” in Studio A) and Metallica to the Dave Matthew’s Band and Carlos Santana have used the facility. It later operated under the name “The Plant Studios,” and became known simply as “the Plant”

• In 2008, after a long and famous history, the recording studio closed its doors

2200 Sound will be structured as a social enterprise:

• Primary focus is a space where musicians of all ages can come together to collaborate

• Revenue is generated through membership (think TechShop meets music)• Membership model provides a reliable and consistent revenue stream• Safe environment where teenagers (ages 12-17) can meet after school• Scholarships/reduced memberships for low-income musicians• Members have ability to learn, play and create music by participating in

classes, workshops and renting rehearsal space
