20th Congress: a second report

This was the best and most informative program I have attended in over five years.

The banquet was done beautifully. The presentation of awards rightly belongs in this slot when everybody is present.

This was an excellent Congress. The new format for programming is great.

This is the best-planned Congress I have ever attended.

This has been my most satisfying Congress. I personally feel this because I did so’me- thing different-/ went everywhere alone. This way I met many people and exchanged information.

The inclusion of the workshops after the opening session was a great idea.

I think this was the best Congress yet. I’d like to say a personal thank you to head- quarters and to all who worked so hard to make it such a success.

You said it.

These comments are from the evaluations

filled in at Congress. Of course, everything

wasn’t perfect, but all in all, the enthusiastic

response of AORN members to Congress

was overwhelming.

The final total registration was 6,952 including 3,952 members of AORN and

guests and 3,000 exhibitors-the latter is a

ballpark figure. As Congress ended, AORN membership stood at 15,812 including 217 new members enrolled at Congress.

The Journal's second report on Congress

includes a commentary by President Ruth

S Metzger on the recommendations passed

by the House of Delegates regarding the

relationship between AORN and the Associ-

ation of Operating Room Technicians.

The special section on Congress shows

the award winners at the AORN banquet

on Sunday night. There is also a report on

the closing session on Friday, Mar 23 which

was followed by the President's Reception.

And there i s a candid look at Congress

through the camera lens. The camera

catches some of you in relaxed moments.

This special section also includes the key-

note speech at the opening session given

by Constance Holleran, RN, executive di- rector of the Washington, DC office of the

American Nurses' Association's government

relations department.

If you were at Congress this year, and

can't wait until the next Congress-or if you couldn't make it to Chicago, but hope

to go next year, now is the time to plan

ahead. Congress will be Feb 10 to 15 in

New Orleans-that i s just preceding the

Mardi Gras.

AORN membership promotion awards Region I: Chapter #0702, Connecti- cut II, Marie Jorow, president.

Region 11: Chapter #4101, District I, South Carolina, Elizabeth Marcil, president.

Region 111: Chapter #0102, South Alabama, Frances Travis, president.

Region IV: Chapter #3102, South Jersey, NJ, Judy Reese, president.

Region V: Chapter #2305, Great- er Lansing, Mich, Jane Brunner Fell, president.

Region VI: Chapter #4410, Gal- veston County, Tex, Jenny Beding- field, president.

Region VII: Chapter #5101, West- ern Frontier, Colo and Wyo, Pat Gib- son, president.

Region VIII: Chapter #0501, Ala- meda County, Calif, Floy Gullion, president.
