Concept The hybrid concept of the MEININGER Hotels combines the service and comfort of an international budget hotel with exceptional

facilities, such as a guest kitchen and game zone. Each hotel is characterized by excellent value for money, a very central location,

high-quality equipment, and flexible room structure. The rooms range from traditional double rooms through private rooms with

multiple beds to one bed in a dormitory.

The hotels are tailored and adapted to the specific location and the market served by the hotel. The individual design of each

hotel reflects the character of its local environment and inspires different target groups like school groups, families, individual

travellers and corporate guests with flexible hospitality solutions.

Hannes Spanring – Chief Executive Officer (CEO)Hannes Spanring is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MEININGER Hotels since June 2016. He leads the business and

directs the strategy of the organisation. With his impressive commercial experience particularly in project selection,

acquisition and development across Europe and Asia he commands invaluable know-how together with his knowledge of

commerce and international markets. Hannes joined MEININGER in 2013 as Head of Projects and Managing Director from

a Dutch developer where he worked as an Executive Director with responsibilities in project selection, acquisition and

development of residential and commercial real estate in Austria and the Netherlands as well as project consultancy and

management in the UK (London), Italy, Croatia and India.

Thomas Hagemann – Chief Operating Officer (COO)Thomas Theodor Hagemann is responsible for the optimization and execution of MEININGER’s operational business

strategy. Thomas is an accomplished global hospitality executive with extensive corporate and operational experience.

Thomas has a proven track record of managing complex projects in diverse multi-cultural environments, with a strong

strategic focus on achieving overall organizational milestones. Thomas is a certified Project Management Professional

(PMI) who specializes in hotel pre-openings and has worked at both Marriott and Starwood before joining Radisson Hotel

Group. After climbing the operational ranks, Thomas served as a General Manager and District Director where he received

15 years of hands-on experience opening hotel projects in over 20 countries.

Clare Gates – Human Resources DirectorIt is Clare’s aim to create a positive and collaborative working environment building on the transformation of MEININGER’s

business and culture where engagement, succession planning and talent management help drive commercial success.

Clare has over 20 years experience in leading global HR functions within technology, engineering & manufacturing

sectors. Most recently, Clare held the position as HR Director at LateRooms.com.

Michael Gies – Chief Financial Officer (CFO)Michael joined MEININGER with many years experience in international finance in various types of industries. His

achievements include business turnarounds, company transformation, financial optimisation, tax restructuring and

working with major financial institutions for M&A and refinancing opportunities. He plays a significant role in helping

MEININGER deliver its plans for growth.During his most recent role as Group CFO for the Hess Group headquartered in

Luxembourg Michael was responsible for overseeing the finance, HR, IT, Supply Chain and Risk Management functions

with all local CFOs reporting directly into him.

Doros Theodorou– Chief Commercial Officer (CCO)Doros Theodorou holds over 17 years of experience in strategic sales and marketing, combined with significant technical

knowledge within the hospitality and travel industry. At MEININGER he drives forward the strategic alignment of all

commercial areas, ensuring accelerated growth, whilst strengthening our competitive advantage on the low-budget

hotel market. Before joining MEININGER he worked as CCO at Sunhotels by Webjet and was instrumental in establishing

a successful global sales and marketing organisation. Previously he has held senior positions of increased commercial

responsibility at TripAdvisor, Kuoni Global Travel Services and Gulliver’s Travel Associates (GTA).
