ENTRY DEADLINE: Thursday, July 12th to be in the Program Book/Local Paper

PHOTO SESSION: Newspaper & Program Insert

New this year… all pageant photographs will be a color and will be an insert to the fair program.

Photo session for Program and Paper: June 28th and July 5th (Times TBA) @ The Stable (Mercer Co.

Fairgrounds, Formally known as the Farmers Market.)

Applications MUST be turned in on or before pictures are made for program and paper.

To be considered for “Most Photogenic Couple” each couple must have their picture taken together on the date

listed above.

** NO photo session make-up dates will be provided…make sure to attend on the date given.

Please make sure to complete/sign the publication permission form for each child

APPLICATION FEE:

The application fee is $50.00 per couple (one girl & one boy)…Checks made payable to Mercer County Fair &

Horse Show.

REGULATIONS & DETAILS:

All applicants MUST be residents of Mercer County.

o Contestants must be 3 years of age on June 30 and cannot be 5 years of age on June 30 of the year they

represent a member of fair.

o Please refer to the rules, guidelines, deadlines and pageant date information on the Mercer County Fair

This year’s pageant will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 @ 6:30 P.M.

Practice will be held on the weekend before the pageant (specific times TBD)

Dress attire will be “Sunday’s Best”. Please no pageant dresses or tuxes.

Contestants must be ready at least 15 minutes prior to pageant time (We will be handing out the contestant

numbers at this time)

o While getting ready…Only 1 parent per child will be allowed in the pageant building)

Prizes will be awarded to the winners, 1st, 2nd and 3rd runner ups.

o There will also be a photogenic award.

o Every contestant will receive a participation gift.

Decisions of the judges are final…score sheets WILL NOT be given out after pageant.

The winning couple will be expected to appear at least once during the time of the Mercer County Horse show.

Mercer County Fair Pageant Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are the youth sizes? YXS = 2-4, YS = 6-8, YM = 10-12, YL =14-16 & YXL = 18-20

2. Why do you need the name of my child’s school or daycare? We use this information in the

newspaper photo’s leading up to the pageant.

3. Will you accept my application in person? Yes, you can drop off your application at Mercer County

Elementary School to Stacy Charles. Place your application & entry fee for both contestants in an

envelope, on the outside of the envelope put attention Stacy Charles TM&M Director. Leave it with

one of the office attendants and they will get it to me.

4. Will you accept late entries? Yes, the late entry deadline will be set at a later date by the directors.

However, if the application is received after the July 12th photo session, your children will not be

eligible for the most photogenic award and no photo’s will be used in the paper or program.

5. Can we submit our own photograph of the couple? We are sorry but we are not accepting privately

submitted photographs.

6. Will there be a parent meeting prior to practice? Yes. Once all the entries have been received and

processed the director will contact you with a parent meeting date.

7. How will the directors communicate with the parents? Typically our form of communications will be

via text. For this it is imperative that you provide us with any cell numbers that you want to receive

communication concerning the pageant.

8. Where will this meeting be held? Typically this is held in the pageant building (white building behind

the stands closer to 127)

9. Why can’t we have more than one person per child in the pageant building on the day of the pageant?

Due to the size of the building and the number of contestants we must keep it at one adult per child.

10. Will our children be asked an on stage question? Yes, each child will be asked a simple question on

stage completely unrelated to the questions in the application.

11. What are the questions in the application used for? These questions will be used for announcing

while each contestant completes their walk on stage.

12. Will there be a theme? Currently to make it easier on the parents we do not plan on having a theme

for the pageant.

13. How the judging is scored? Appropriate Attire = 30%, On-Stage Appearance = 50%, Personality=

20%. Finally all contestants will come back on the stage for a comparison judging (On-

Stage/Overall) which can add additional 2-5 points to the total score. Ranking 1-4
