Family Dispute Resolution (FDR)
Practice Refresher Training

You are an accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner
(FDRP), and you want to ensure that your practice incorporates
the latest information and methods. These short, intensive
sessions will refresh and enhance your knowledge and skills in
FDR practice through information, discussion and interactive
activities.
Topics include:
Models of practice
Intake and assessment processes and FDR obligations
Managing complex presentations
Family violence – assessing and impacts in FDR
Family Law Act – children’s matters
Certificates and maintaining currency for registration
Outcomes
Participants will:
focus on currency of FDR skills, knowledge and
techniques that will assist in facilitating options for the
resolution of disputes
understand recent changes to FDR practice
be able to assess for suitability of FDR, family violence
and mental health
build capacity of participants’ FDR practice.
Program format
The program consists of three sessions that will cover a range
of topics in conducting FDR in practice. The following page
provides details on the topics in each session. You can select
the topics that are relevant to you and attend either one, two or
three sessions.

About the presenter
Lilia Szarski is an accredited Family Dispute Resolution
(FDR) practitioner and a Trainer in the RAV Grad Dip of
FDR. Lilia is also a Clinical Supervisor and an
experienced psychologist. She has clinically supervised a
team of professionally-trained Family Consultants in the
Family Court and FDRPs in the field, prepared family
reports for the Courts and appeared as an expert witness
in many family law cases. Lilia holds membership of the
Australian Psychological Society, International
Association of Family and Youth Courts, International
Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, and the
International Association of Applied Psychologists.
