There was a decrease in multi-year individual memberships purchased in 2016 and 2017. Multi-year, individual memberships cause significant accounting fluctuations year to year and do not yield a significant savings benefit to our members. Recommend: auto-renewal on yearly basis. *Discussion/vote needed.

IWAS: LOOKING FORWARD

The IWAS Junior World Games has moved to an every other year format as IPC Athletics has created an event. Nottwil, Switzerland staged the first two editions of the IPC Athletics Junior World Championships in August of 2017. U.S. Paralympics field a team for the August 3-6 event with 20 athletes. Switzerland will also be the site in 2019. The Championships caters two age groups – youth athletes aged between 14 and 17 years and junior athletes between ages 18 and 19 years.

Adaptive Sports USA has begun planning to field a team for the IWAS Under 23 World Games in 2018. There has been no official announcement of when and where these games will take place from IWAS. The announcement is anticipated for December 2018. The committee is working behind the scenes to have documents and policies in place to move forward with soliciting applications and selecting a team once announced. Interest also expressed from Paul DePace for Adaptive Sports USA to form an all Women’s team in the future for IWAS women’s events.

Independents and NGBs fielded a Team through Adaptive Sports USA IWAS World Games to include US Fencing and USA Taekwondo.

FUN FACTS ABOUT OUR CHAPTERS

“The NSCD's adaptive sports programs are all therapeutic in nature,

with every athlete working toward individual therapeutic goals that

improve their health, skills, confidence, independence, and/or quality of

life in long-lasting ways. Fun fact: the NSCD expects to have a number

of our competitive winter sports athletes compete in the 2018 Winter

Paralympics in South Korea! Also, we want to tell you how incredibly

popular our shooting program is with participants. We couldn't have

launched this program without your funding in 2015-2016, and we are

incredibly grateful!”
