EUROPE / SPRING 2017 TOUR

Alan Gilbert will lead the Philharmonic on the EUROPE / SPRING 2017 tour, March 23–April 7,

2017. The tour will include performances in Antwerp, Luxembourg, Düsseldorf, Essen, Budapest,

Vienna, London as part of the Philharmonic’s third Barbican Centre residency, Hamburg, and

Copenhagen. The repertoire will reflect major highlights of the Philharmonic’s 2016–17 season,

including Esa-Pekka Salonen’s Cello Concerto with Yo-Yo Ma as soloist; Mahler’s Symphony No.

4; Bartók’s Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta; John Adams’s Harmonielehre, Absolute Jest,

and The Chairman Dances (Foxtrot for Orchestra); Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique; and

Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 1 with Frank Peter Zimmermann.
