Housing & Dining Programs believes that much of what students learn happens outside the classroom setting. Our staff is committed to providing and supplementing quality programs and services that will enhance the academic pursuit of the residents.

who we are

RESIDENT DIRECTORS (RDs) – Each residence hall is staffed by a full-time, master’s-level professional who oversees the day-to-day management of the residence hall. RDs are responsible for creating a dynamic community of engaged students through intentional interaction and educational initiatives. They supervise resident assistants and program associates, manage conflict mediation, support community standards of conduct and policy enforcement, and coordinate collaborative programmatic efforts with the university faculty and staff. RDs provide 24-hour emergency response, 365 days a year.

PROGRAM ASSOCIATES (PAs) – Program Associates are upper-class students (at least sophomore standing) that work with residential students in a learning community. Students participating in the University College or a Three-Year Scholars living-learning program have a PA assigned to their course. PAs live in the floor community, with students in the UC or Three-Year Scholars course, during the fall semester. PAs lead weekly labs with students in the course, and are a great resource to residential students.

DESK RECEPTIONIST (DRs) – Each hall is staffed by a desk receptionist who checks to make sure that every student who enters the building is a resident and that all guests are escorted. Front desk receptionist sign for and distribute mail and packages. They also can issue spare keys and carts. Each hall is staffed with a DR 24/7.

FACULTY IN RESIDENCE – The Faculty in Residence program enhances opportunities for student-faculty contact outside the classroom, extends the academic mission of the university beyond the classroom, and expands faculty understanding of student life. Resident faculty join in the shared experience of residence hall and campus life, facilitate informal exchanges between their colleagues and resident students, and host opportunities for residents to reflect on their studies and issues of the day. There is a faculty in residence in Anderson and Nebraska Halls and a faculty office in Hughes and McDowell Halls.
