CELEBRATION OF DREAMSAn evening of dazzling moments and dreams come true
L E T T E R F R O M T H O M A S R O L L E R S O N
We are grateful for your presence this evening and the commitment to dreams it signifies. This event produces a significant part of our funding, allowing us to honor the final wishes of so many fragile lives.
The generous efforts of vendors, talent, volunteers and all of you tonight coupled with the contributions received are what allow us to keep fundraising costs low and the majority of our resources applied directly to programs and services.
We have successfully maintained a 30 percent or less income-to-expense ratio each year for this event, ensuring a 4-star Charity Navigator rating for the fifth year.
Tonight we are proud to honor Barry Manilow and Andy Puzder of CKE Restaurants Holdings, Inc.—two individuals who have directly touched lives of our dream families.
Barry Manilow had his own ‘dream foundation’ before we even existed, privately giving to individuals and families struggling with illness. Since our inception in 1994, Barry has contributed time, auction items and financial support to our dream recipients and our mission.
Also for the past 19 years, Andy Puzder and CKE Restaurants Holdings, Inc. have demonstrated compassion to our families by being first to provide Carl’s Jr.® and Hardee’s® food vouchers to those in need. With steadfast leadership, Andy continues to uphold CKE’s early commitment and also rolls up his own sleeves, making corporate and personal contributions.
Finally—and most importantly—what brings us together year after year are the families we serve, as evidenced in the name, Celebration of Dreams. Tonight we celebrate the dreamers for their strength and courage, and for entrusting us with their final wishes.
We are proud to honor and celebrate the true stars of the night.

CELEBRATION OF DREAMSAn evening of dazzling moments and dreams come true
With more than 100 million albums sold, Olivia Newton-John’s successes include four Grammys, numerous Country Music, American Music and Peoples Choice Awards, an Emmy Award and ten #1 hits and over 15 top 10 singles. In 1978, her co-starring role with John Travolta in “Grease” catapulted Olivia into super-stardom and to date remains the most successful movie musical of all time.
Olivia’s appeal seems to be timeless. With a career spanning more than four decades she is still a vibrant, creative individual adored by fans across the world. Throughout her career, the much-loved star has held many humanitarian causes close to her heart, particularly since the birth of her daughter Chloe.
Olivia served as Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations Environment Programme and in 1991, the Children’s Health Environmental Coalition was founded, with Olivia serving as National Spokesperson for ten years. Her devotion and shared commitment to CHEC’s mission and goals enabled the organization to receive worldwide attention and support.

In the 90’s, Olivia successfully overcame her own battle with breast cancer. Her personal victory against cancer led her to announce her partnership with the Austin Health and the creation of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre and Wellness Centre (ONJCWC) on the Austin Campus in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia. After nearly ten years of fundraising close to $200 million, the ONJCWC opened its doors in July 2012, making Olivia’s dream a reality. The ONJCWC provides a comprehensive range of services and facilities for cancer treatment, education, training and research as well as a dedicated wellness center (www.oliviaappeal.com). “It has been my dream to create a healing place, within the hospital grounds, a sanctuary of peace, beauty and relaxation for cancer patients,” says Olivia regarding the Wellness Centre.
Continuing her efforts to find a cure for breast cancer, Olivia launched the Liv Aid ®, a breast self-examination aid that assists women to exercise breast self-exams correctly (www.Liv.com). Olivia credits her own breast self-exam as the first step to her eventual diagnosis of breast cancer. Now, more than 20 years later (and cancer free) she has become a
passionate advocate in creating awareness for early detection and, encouraging women to take a more active role in their breast health.
In 2008, Olivia married John Easterling founder of the Amazon Herb Company, which recently merged with TriVita Inc., to share their mission of bringing wellness to the world, while spreading the word about the importance of preserving the Rainforest and, the health values found in the botanicals of the Amazon. In addition they continue to work with the ACEER Organization (www.ACEER.org) to help the indigenous people of the Amazon gain ownership and title to their land.
In keeping with her wellness efforts, Olivia is also co-owner of the award winning Gaia Retreat and Spa (www.GaiaRetreat.com.au) in the Hinterlands of New South Wales, Australia. With her current and ongoing projects and philanthropic endeavors, Olivia’s worldwide popularity is as strong as ever!

Although Priscilla and Elvis divorced in 1973, they remained very close up until the time of Elvis’s death. In 1979, after the death of Elvis’s father, Priscilla became Co-Executor of the Presley Estate. Faced with a gloomy accounting sheet, Priscilla’s entrepreneurial skills swept into motion and she formulated a business plan that would turn Graceland into a moneymaker for the legions of Elvis fans. In 1982, Elvis’s iconic home was opened to the public-thanks to Priscilla-and the Presley Estate was transformed into one of the most successful business enterprises. After opening a successful boutique of 7 years with her business partner, Priscilla began her theatrical training with famed coach, Milton Katselas. She became the national spokeswoman for Wella Balsam hair products and she made her television debut as co-host of the ABC program ‘Those Amazing Animals’. When she landed the role of Jenna Wade on the internationally popular CBS TV series Dallas, she became an instant audience favorite. During her 5 years on that top-rated television series, Priscilla became one of

the show’s most popular leading ladies. Her versatility as an actress proved itself repeatedly thereafter. In the box office smash hit, ‘The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!’; ‘The Naked Gun 2 1/2 ‘, and ‘The Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult’, Priscilla’s comedic talents became an integral part of the hilarious Naked Gun cocktail. She has also guest-starred on TV’s Melrose Place and Touched by an Angel. As a result of her appearances, the programs enjoyed their highest-rated episodes in their season. She has served as Executive Producer on the feature film, Finding Graceland, and she’s appeared in back-to-back episodes of ABC’s TV comedy series, Spin City. This past winter, she appeared on-stage at the New Wimbledon Theatre in London where she played the Wicked Queen in the panto production of Snow White. Priscilla was one of the first celebrities to launch a signature fragrance line, she launched 4 very successful signature fragrances Moments, Experiences, Indian Summer and Roses and More. Most recently, Priscilla put her creative
talents to good use by designing and launching the Priscilla Presley Collection, a jewelry line that took off on QVC . Priscilla continues her longstanding role as the Ambassador of the Dream Foundation, helping to fulfill the dreams of adults battling terminal illness. She’s also an animal rights advocate who dedicated a lot of time and energy to animal rescue; she recently saved several horses from slaughter, providing them with a lifetime home at Graceland.

12th ANNUAL DREAM FOUNDATION PRESENTS
CELEBRATION OF DREAMSAn evening of dazzling moments and dreams come true
B A R R Y M A N I L O W
“Among the few things one can count on in life: the taste of McDonald’s cheeseburgers, ‘I Love Lucy’ reruns are still funny—and Barry Manilow never wearing out his welcome at the top of the charts.” - Billboard Magazine.
Music is Manilow’s passion -- both in the studio and in the classroom. While he has released over 40 albums, Manilow has also raised millions of dollars through his Manilow Music Project.
Manilow’s roots are in his native Brooklyn, where music was an integral part of his life. By the age of seven, he was taking accordion lessons and playing on a neighbor’s piano.
In 1971, Barry Manilow met Bette Midler and became her music director, arranger and pianist.
In 1974, Clive Davis founded a new label, Arista, along with Columbia Pictures and signed Manilow. Manilow, using his arranging and producing abilities, changed the British rock song, “Brandy,” into the sweeping ballad that the world knows as “Mandy,” which reached Number One in early 1975, and ignited one of the most incandescent careers in pop music.
Manilow is ranked as the top Adult Contemporary chart artist of all time, according to R&R (Radio & Records), with 50 Top 40 Hits. The list includes all-time favorites that Manilow still sings today: “Mandy,” “It’s A Miracle,” “Could It Be Magic,” “I Write the Songs,” “Tryin’ To Get the Feeling Again,” “This One’s For You,” “Weekend In New England,” “Looks Like We Made It,” “Can’t Smile Without You,” “Even Now,” and the Grammy Award-winning “Copacabana (At the Copa).”
But, Manilow would describe himself as a musician before he would call himself a singer.
From the beginning, his love of music was, and still is in arranging, composing and songwriting.
Manilow is a winner of Grammy®, Emmy®, and Tony® Awards and has been nominated for an Oscar. To date, twenty-nine of his albums have been certified platinum. Manilow has been inducted into both the National Academy of Popular Music’s Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Great American Songbook Hall of Fame.
In addition to his own foundation, the Manilow Fund for Health and Hope, other involvements include The Prince’s Trust, United Way, the Starlight Foundation, The Dream Foundation and several leading organizations for AIDS prevention and research.
In 2008, Manilow created The Manilow Music Project as part of his Manilow Fund for Health and Hope. Answering the call of need at a time when arts and music programs in most schools are the first casualty in budget cuts, The Manilow Music Project was launched by providing $500,000 worth of musical instruments to 21 local schools in California’s Coachella Valley.
To date, the Manilow Music Project has raised millions of dollars and has placed brand new instruments into the hands of students across the country. As Manilow says, “Anyone can make a difference. Just call your local schools and ask them what they
need. Get ‘em a new set of drums! Music changes a young person’s life.”
Manilow recently enjoyed another milestone in his career. Together with his writing partner Bruce Sussman, they launched the musical HARMONY, which opened to rave reviews in Atlanta in September and is heading to Los Angeles’ Ahmanson Theatre in 2014.
After spending an unprecedented 10 years at the top of the pop music charts, this multi-talented producer, arranger, musician, composer, singer and performer has succeeded with albums focused on 50’s Jazz, Techno-Jazz, Big Band Swing, Show Tunes, Sinatra Swing, songs from the Great American Songbook, Christmas music and Rock ‘n Roll. Makes one’s head spin. No wonder Rolling Stone dubbed him “The Showman of Our Generation.”
Barry Manilow had his own ‘dream foundation’ before we even existed, privately giving to individuals and families struggling with illness. Since the inception of Dream Foundation in 1994, Barry has contributed his time, auction items and financial support to our dream recipients and our mission.
