    he first half of 2013 has been an incredibly productive

    me for our PFC team on the ground. With the support

    f our US donors, PFC staff have reached and served

    housands of people all over Kenya. PFC matched the

    unds pledged by donors in our year-end campaign. As a

    esult, Partners for Care has not only maintained current

    rograms, but significantly expanded them, allowing our

    eam to reach many more people. Thank you!

    ome mid-year highlights include:

    stablished two more PFC farms in Malindi, andMarsabit - to feed the children.

    Opened the Joseph Beasley Education Center in

    Watamu, which includes a 2nd Chance School and

    teracy programming.

    ncreased number of water packs distributed from

    00 to 7,000. Hand delivered packs to people, coast-

    o-coast in Marsabit, Mai Mahiu, Marurui, and

    Watamu.

    Distributed 500 bed nets in Marurui Slum.

    2ND CHANCE SCHOOLS

    nd Chance Schools in all three locations -Marurui, Marsabit, and Watamu - are all atapacity with a total of 80 students enrolled. A

    waiting list has been established at all three schoolsor students eager to enroll as soon as new spotsecome available.

    OUTREACH EVENTS

    PFC staff conducted 227 outreach events to sharehe message of HIV/AIDS prevention, treat jiggers,istribute water packs and bed nets, and mentoroung people in making healthy life choices.

    HIV/AIDS PREVENTION

    So far this year alone, the PFC team on the groundhas reached 18,085 people with the life-savingmessage of HIV/AIDS prevention. 4,106 have

    committed to do their part to stop the spread ofHIV/AIDS. Since the inception of our Reach-A-Million program, the PFC team has reached over300,000 people towards the goal of reaching1,000,000 people.

    COMPUTER SCHOOLS

    PFC Computer Schools have had over 125 studentsso far this year. In June, Partners for Care staffheld a graduation ceremony for students at the

    Marurui Computer School, as proud parents andfamily celebrated their students accomplishments.

    TREATED FOR JIGGERS

    486 people, including hundreds of children, habeen treated for jiggers. Many are cured of the

    parasite and have returned to work or school. I

    addition to treatment, the PFC team also teachparents effective methods for preventing reinfeand keeping their children healthy.

    YOUTH SPORTS

    As of June, 489 kids were enrolled in PFC spoprograms in Marurui, Marsabit, and Mai MaKenya. Sports teams include Girls Volleyball,

    Mens and Boys Soccer Teams.
