2013 Chili Cook Off Raises $3,016.00 for Fire Department “Let’s do this every year” was the general consensus at last Saturday’s Fire Department Chili Cook Off. It is estimated over 150 friends and neighbors gathered at Station 51 to enjoy great chili, hot cornbread and raise money for fire department equipment needs. There were 20 entries in the chili division making it a difficult night for judges Dick Yarbrough, Jenny Blackburn and Ramona Rimmer to choose first, second and third places. There was no charge to attend the event but guests graciously dropped donations into fire boots that served as table centerpieces. Things got a little heated when the live auction began; Chattahoochee Hills’ business and residents made donations to be auctioned. Auction bids combined with the boot donations, totaled $3.016.00. “I know the citizens of this city are gracious, but the amount raised exceeded our expectations,” said CHFD Chief Ronnie Lyle. Thank you neighbors and friends of Chatt Hills Fire Department!

Our Town Update By Dana Wicher
Your Chattahoochee Hills “Our Town” Team is Making Progress
A good plan for figuring out where you want to go always starts with where are you now. That is exactly the first
step eighteen of your neighbors are taking right now as we begin to implement the “Our Town” grant
Chattahoochee Hills received from the National Endowment for the Arts to plan how we can improve our
community through design and the arts.
When this group of eighteen reviewed all of our physical resources (like our parks, recreation areas, crossroad
communities, and natural scenic beauty) and our community programs (like our Cochran Mill Nature Center,
Churches, Community Brickworks, and the Serenbe Playhouse), we all agreed that Chattahoochee Hills is a good
place to live. This “Our Town” grant planning process allows us to envision how we can make our city even better.
It is hard not to get excited about this project
when you listen to folks talk about how we can
use art and design to bring our community
closer together with a stronger sense of place .
We are planning some upcoming community
wide opportunities to gather ideas. Even
though we will continue to give you monthly
updates in all the various places you receive
community news, it would be great if you
would “like us” on the new Chattahoochee
Hills Our Town Facebook page. This way you
can leave comments and keep up with the
latest news.
Also, share your thoughts with any of these
folks on the “Our Town” steering committee:
Steve Dray, Faye Godwin, John Graham, Nancey Green Leigh, Carol Harper, Maria Hanson, Sandra Huffmaster,
Steven Kopelman, Nan McGuffey, Mike Morton, Paul Nelson, Tom Reed, Ashton Ritchie, Shelton Stanfill, Teri
Taylor, Maribeth Wansley, Dana Wicher, and Cecilia Winston.

Local Business Marks 10th Anniversary
Growing up on Garrett’s Ferry Road, Chad Casey never
dreamed that he would one day own his childhood home
much less make it the base for his business. Casey began
Casey Corporate Transportation (formerly known as Nights
in Motion) ten years ago this month. The company provides
transportation by SUV or Sedan to meet the transportation
needs of visitors and locals alike: airport arrival/delivery,
business meetings, special events, etc.
To celebrate CCT is offering discounts to Chattahoochee Hills’ residents thru the end of April: receive 10% off any
sedan or SUV airport trip booked during that period. To make reservations, lease visit their website
www.cctatlanta.com, call 404-688-5720, or email [email protected].
“In today’s economy, it is something for a small business to mark 10 years of operation. We are grateful for those
who select CCT to meet their needs,” said Casey, “Owning a business ‘at home’ works perfectly for my family. I
can manage the business and be more involved with my family and community.” He is married to the former Sonia
Long and is step-father to Sydney and Jaycob.
In addition to CCT, Chad is a volunteer with Chattahoochee Hills Fire Department, is active at Providence Baptist
Church, and has served as a Chattahoochee Hills Little League and Basketball Coach.
Belgian electronic dance fest coming to Chattahoochee Hills
MIAMI (AP) — One of Europe's largest music festivals will be crossing over into the United States, setting up a
fairytale world with electronic dance beats for three days in Georgia.
The Tomorrowland electronic dance music festival in Belgium will hold a similar three-day festival in
Chattahoochee Hills, Ga., near Atlanta, in September.
TomorrowWorld is expected to attract internationally renowned DJs and 50,000 fans each day.
TomorrowWorld is expected to attract internationally renowned DJs and 50,000 fans each day.
It is the first international expansion of the Tomorrowland festival, one of the world's largest electronic dance
music events. Tomorrowland takes place in July and will play host to 180,000 people from 214 countries. Event
promoters say tickets sold out in one second.
The announcement was made Wednesday in Miami in an elaborate ceremony that included men and women
dressed in magical costumes and a fireworks display.
"We will create a fairytale world from the smallest detail to the biggest stage," Tomorrowland co-owner Michiel
Beers said.

Beers said organizers immediately felt at home in the Georgia venue, which happens to be owned by a Belgian. In
addition to stages and dancing, festivalgoers will have the opportunity to camp out in tents overnight in a placed
called "Dreamville." Artists will be announced starting in April. Beers said the lineup will likely be similar to the
Belgian event.
The U.S. festival comes at a time when electronic dance music is growing in popularity after years of success in
Europe. The Ultra Music Festival in Miami also brings together electronic dance music fans and is currently taking
place over two weekends in its 15th year.
