BOISE STATE ATHLETICS

SHANNON SAXTONBRONCO SOCCERCLASS OF 2011

The Bronco Athletic Association (BAA) provides the financial resources necessary for more than 450 student-athletes to compete at a national level, while having the opportunity to earn a first-class education and experience. The BAA is composed of generous individuals and businesses, like you, that support our student-athletes through Bronco Nation Fund gifts (see pg. 13), an-nual season ticket contributions, capital projects, scholarship endowments, sport enhancements, and planned gifts. With continued decreases in support from public funding, we need the help of Bronco Nation now more than ever to maintain a first-class athletic program.

In 2012-13, more than 4,200 members generated over $2,830,000 in revenue to help support our student-athletes in the classroom and in competition.Athletics at Boise State University has always been, and will continue to be, an important part of the university experience for all students, alumni, fans and the community. Your assistance not only supports our student-athletes, but benefits the university, the city of Boise, and the state of Idaho.

Dear Bronco Athletic Association Members,

On behalf of Boise State Athletics, I would like to thank you for your generous and loyal support of the Bronco Athletic Association. Your dedication in providing the resources necessary for our more than 450 student-athletes, both in the classroom and in competition, is remarkable. Our current successes in creating a first-class experience for our student-athletes would not be possible without the loyal support of our members.

This past year, you have witnessed many changes to how the Bronco Athletic Association plans to conduct business moving forward. The implementation of a Priority Points System, the move to a Per Seat Contribution in football, and eventually men’s basketball, and a new benefits chart, which includes all areas of support to Boise State Athletics, will allow us to focus on being fair and transparent to each and every one of our members, and provide value to all who support our athletic program. Each member is vital to our success and makes it possible for us to achieve our mission of graduating student-athletes and competing at the highest level in a first-class manner.

The creation of this member guidebook is to offer you the detailed explanations of all the initiatives in the Bronco Athletic Association and we hope to answer any questions you may have regarding the changes this year. We appreciate your loyal support and understanding as we continue to take strides forward and keep our program competitive on a national level.Your continued commitment to our program, student-athletes and coaches will undoubtedly assist us in reaching new heights of success. Please know how much we value your dedication and support of Boise State Athletics, and look forward to providing you a higher level of service for all that you do.

Your InvestmentCreates OpportunitiesEach student-athlete comes to Boise State to achieve two dreams, compete at a national level and earn a collegiate degree. As tuition, fees and housing continue to rise, so does our commitment to our student-athletes. In order to provide this first-class experience, Boise State must raise $9 million dollars on an annual basis.

The challenge of the Bronco Athletic Association is to produce this revenue through Bronco Nation Fund gifts, season ticket contributions, reserved parking, and endowment earnings.

NEW FOR 2013, the BAA will have new benefit levels that includes all gifts to athletics. This includes seat contributions, Bronco Nation Fund, capital, endowment and sport enhancement gifts. If you have any questions about your current level, or how to move up to a new level, please contact the BAA.

Explanation of Benefits:

The BAA is changing the way priority seating is handled from a membership standpoint. In years past, your level of membership afforded you the opportunity to purchase a set amount of tickets in a priority area.

THE OLD MODEL: A Wrangler membership at $950 allowed you to purchase two tickets in a Wrangler Section, four tickets in a Roughrider Section, six tickets in a Buckaroo Section, or eight tickets in a Bronco Section. This system caused confusion about seating costs and the need to create half memberships. Also, the membership level created the priority level for such items like upgrades and away game purchases. The implementation of the Priority Points System (see page 11) has created a more fair and transparent system to prioritize BAA members.

SEATING SIMPLIFIED: Beginning in 2013, the BAA is moving from the old model to a “Per Seat Contribution” which is easier to communicate and understand. A Per Seat Contribution is a donation placed on the purchase of EACH season ticket in the respective section.2012 Wrangler membership was $950 for two seats

2013 $475 for each seat in a Wrangler Section

PER SEAT CONTRIBUTIONS:Wrangler Sections $475 Buckaroo Sections $240Roughrider Sections $325 Bronco Sections $75

FOOTBALL: CHANGES IN PRIORITY SEATING

TAX INFORMATIONIf membership in the Association determines your seating for football and/or basketball, 80 percent of the total amount of the membership may be deductible as a charitable contribution for income tax purposes, according to the Internal Revenue Service Code, Section 170. The value/cost of various parking options is not considered a charitable gift. It is always prudent to consult with your tax advisor when determining the deductibility of gifts/payments.

For those who purchased season tickets in a Roughrider or Buckaroo Section, with a Wrangler membership in 2012, this new system will adjust your seat contribution for 2013. The BAA is making this adjustment over a two year period, with a discount in 2013, and then the full contribution for 2014.

EXAMPLE OF PRICE DISCOUNT ADJUSTMENTS FOR 2012 MEMBERS: 2012 Wrangler Member in Roughrider Section $237.50 per seat2013 Roughrider Section for 2012 Wrangler Members $285.00 per seat2014 Roughrider Section for 2012 Wrangler Members $325.00 per seat

It is recommended for those who have shared accounts under this situation to create separate accounts moving forward. The adjusted contributions for 2013 will still be honored, and each individual will be able to build their own priority points and receive individual benefits based upon their total annual giving level.

BRONCO ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION | 9

As with Football, Per Seat Contributions will be used for the seating areas at Taco Bell Arena. For 2013-14, Football Per Seat Contributions will be carried over for basketball season tickets. Much like in Football, the sections at basketball will have the same Per Seat Contributions shown in the map to the right.

COMING IN 2014-15!For the 2014-15 and following seasons, new Per Seat Contributions will be created for the different seating options at Taco Bell Arena. These will need to be made in addition to any other contributions. The current contributions levels will not be the same moving forward, and more information will be released once the Per Seat Contributions are available.

UPGRADES AND ADDITIONAL TICKET REQUESTSDonors and current men’s basketball season ticket holders requesting upgrades and/or additional seats must have their current ticket(s) and membership(s) paid in full by the deadlines specified by the Athletic Ticket Office and BAA.

Season ticket holders will indicate they are interested in a location change or adding seats by marking their season ticket renewal form.

The Athletic Ticket Office will then contact season ticket holders who have requested additional seats or location changes after the season ticket renewal deadline. All invitations to upgrade or add seats in Taco Bell Arena will be prioritized using the Priority Points System. (See page 11)

All upgrades and requests for additional tickets are based upon availability.

2013-14 MEN’SBASKETBALL SEATING

TAX INFORMATIONIf membership in the Association determines your seating for football and/or basketball, 80 percent of the total amount of the membership may be deductible as a charitable contribution for income tax purposes, according to the Internal Revenue Service Code, Section 170. The value/cost of various parking options is not considered a charitable gift. It is always prudent to consult with your tax advisor when determining the deductibility of gifts/payments.

FOOTBALL: PARKING, PROCEDURES, DATES, COSTS AND MOREFor the 2013 football season, all BAA reserved parking lots and spaces, as last year, will be available for renewal relocation and additions. All BAA members who enjoyed a parking space(s), last year will be able to renew the same space(s) by meeting the minimum contribution levels to the left. As you can see, the minimums for requesting space(s) in the lots have changed since last year. These minimums can be met with Per Seat Contributions to football, as well as giving to the Bronco Nation Fund (see page 13).

For example, if you have two seats in a Wrangler Section, the Per Seat Contribution is $950. The additional $50 to meet the minimum to park in the East Stadium Lot can be directed to the Bronco Nation Fund.

Another change for 2013 involves the Norco and Manitou lots. Moving forward, these lots will no longer be reserved, but will be open on a first-come-first-served basis. All lot pass holders will still have a space available to them as the lot will not be oversold on a season basis.

Parking renewals will be due by May 31, 2013, and individual priority point totals will be based on this deadline. After this date, relocation, additional, and new sales will begin based upon priority. All minimum contributions and parking must be paid in full to relocate or purchase additional parking spots. Relocation or additional requests can be made on your parking renewal form and mailed back to the BAA, through e-mail at [email protected], or by phone at 426-3556. We will begin contacting members on available requests based upon priority in June.

PRIORITY POINTS

Priority Points are allocated based on three main categories: Giving, Loyalty and Affinity. Each of these categories have areas with a specific point value. The point total from each of the categories will be combined to create your overall point total. This overall point total will be used to rank all current Bronco Athletic Association members. This rank can change throughout the year, based upon an increase of points from you, or other members.

PRIORITY POINTS WILL BE USED TO ALLOCATE HIGH DEMAND ITEMS: • Away and neutral site game tickets • Additional home game tickets • Football Bowl and Basketball Postseason tickets • Season ticket upgrades • New or additional season tickets/parking • BAA events and other benefits

YOUR ACCOUNTA current BAA member is an individual, couple or business who has an account in his/her name and has made a gift in a given year. Season ticket holders and individuals who are not current BAA members will be allocated tickets and upgrades after all current members have been fulfilled. All past members and season ticket holders are encouraged to give an athletics gift to maximize their priority points, and receive addtional BAA member benefits.

ACCOUNT CHANGES – Starting for the 2013 season, season ticket holders and BAA member accounts may only have one contact name or a contact name with a spouse/partner. Business accounts must designate a contact person. During the verification process, members are encouraged to make these changes to their accounts. After February 2013, priority points, gift history and season ticket purchase history cannot be

transferred from one person, or account, to another. In the event of a death, the surviving spouse/partner retains the priority points, as long as their name is on the account prior to death. With this, any account that has been pooled with others, or under a business name, is advised to have their own account moving forward. Once a business, or group, is termi-nated, the priority points and history will not be transferred.

TICKET ALLOCATION & UPGRADE PROCESSThe priority point ranking (highest to lowest) will be used to allocate tick-et requests for away/neutral site games, additional home single-game tick-ets, as well as additional season upgrades and tickets. Since priority points rankings can change, there will be deadlines for all of these requests. The priority point rank on these deadlines will be used. The amount of tickets each member can request will vary based upon availability.

FAQsWhy is the Priority Point System necessary?

The Priority Point System is necessary to fairly and equitably allocate tickets and other benefits to Bronco Athletic Association members. The system also helps with being transparent to our members on how priority rank is created as well as the basis for how benefits will be allocated. This system includes logevity and past giving history, which was not accounted for previously.

Where do I find my priority points total?

Current BAA members will receive a priority points statement. Starting with the 2013-14 season, current members will be able to see their point total by logging into their online account. Also, any per-sonalized communication from the BAA will have both current point total and ranking.

Does my priority point rank affect my current season ticket location? No. As long as all ticket contributions and pay-ments are made each year, a season-ticket holder will not lose their seat location.

How can I improve my seating location?

The best way to improve your location is to increase your priority rank. Priority points can be allocated throughout the year prior to each deadline.

I have purchased season tickets through an-other account. Do I receive points?

Priority points are allocated to the account that the tickets are under. After March 2013, priority points and purchase history are not transferrable. We encourage each member to maintain their own account and priority points.

Will my ranking affect my tailgating location?

It is the goal of the athletic department not to take anything away from our members. As long as the permit holder maintains the qualifications necessary for the specific spot, the permit holder will retain his/her spot. Qualifications will be made during the annual renewal process.

CAPITAL PROJECTSBAA members can make pledges toward bricks and mortar projects, can be made over a five year period. These facilities help the Broncos compete nationally to recruit the best student-athletes, and coaches. The current capital projects are the Football Stadium Expansion, which includes the new Football Complex, additional stadium seating and Dona Larsen Park. Naming opportunities are still available.

SPORT ENHANCEMENTS AND COACHES CLUBSEach varsity sport sponsored by Boise State University has an established account to help supplement and offset operational costs necessary to compete at a national level, and provide a first-class experience to the student-athletes. These sport enhancement gifts cannot replace Per Seat Contributions for football or basketball, but will be adding to a BAA members’ total annual giving level. Sport Enhancements are specific to each sport and some have additional benefits.

ENDOWED ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIPSAthletic endowments are funds that are used in perpetuity to offset scholarship costs. The income generated from these funds provide scholarships for our student-athletes in each of our 19 varsity sports on an annual basis. The primary objective of the athletic endowment program is to provide the investment necessary to offset all the scholarship costs for more than 450 student-athletes, year after year. An indivdual, or business, can establish an endowed athletic scholarship beginning at $25,000 and this can be made over a five year period.

PLANNED GIVING PROGRAMBAA members can establish a planned gift by naming Bronco Athletics as the beneficiary of special gifts such as cash, securities, real estate property, life insurance, and personal property items. All planned giving members will be a part of the “Footprints for the Future,” and all proceeds will be used to benefit the program as directed by the respective donor.

MATCHING GIFTSMany companies will match individual contributions by their employees to college and universities. Contact the appropriate person at your place of business to confirm matching gift information, and you may be able to double your support for the Broncos, and earn additional priority points.

BRONCO NATION FUNDThe new Bronco Nation Fund allows all Bronco Fans, both local and from across the country, an opportunity to make an impact on our athletic program. There is no minimum necessary, and allows each member to give what they can. Current BAA members can choose to give to the Bronco Nation Fund to reach a higher benefit level, while non-priority season ticket holders can give in order to receive priority point consideration. This also enables those who live across the nation, and internationally, to help Bronco Athletics remain nationally competitive.

The purpose of the Bronco Nation Fund is to grow the support of our program and identify the many loyal fans of Bronco Nation.
