PRESIDENT'S REPORT

The 1968 meeting of the Charles S. Peirce Society was held at the Sheraton-Park Hotel in Washington, D.C., on December 28. The program consisted of a paper by Professor Atwell Turquette of the University of Illinois on "Peirce's Complete Systems of Triadic Logic"; a paper by Professor Richard Martin of New York Univer- sity on "Peirce and Frege on the Theory of Meaning"; and a com- mentary by Professor Chung-Ying Cheng of Yale University.

After the program a business meeting was held. The president reported on the present situation with respect to the Peirce home in Milford, Pennsylvania. Owing chiefly to the high cost of the prop- erty, it has been found impossible for the Society to take any effective action toward the preservation of the property. The Society ex- pressed its desire that future presidents remain in touch with the situation in case some new development should make more effective action possible. The Society also expressed its desire that something should be written on the Peirce house for publication in the Trans- actions, and expressed its hope that Professor Charles Crittenden would undertake that task.

Owing to the fact that Professor Edward Moore has now moved to the State University of New York at Binghamton, the Society voted to move the Transactions to the philosophy department of suny, Binghamton, with the understanding that Professor Moore will for the present continue as editor. The University of Massachu- setts Press will continue as publisher.

TREASURER'S REPORT

As of January 1, 1968, the Society had $556.27 in the treasury. Since that time we have received $961.50 from all sources. Following the resolution of the December 1967 meeting that $100 per year go to the editor of the Transactions, that sum was paid for that purpose. A sum of $836.50 was paid to the university of Massachusetts Press as subscription dues for the Transactions. Accordingly, the financial situation is this:

$ 556.27 Balance on January 1, 1968 961.50 Income for 1968

7^7^77 Total - 836.50 Paid to the University of Massachusetts Press - 100.00 Paid to the Transactions - 12.43 Expenses of the Executive Committee % 568.84 Total money of Society on December 28, 1969
