•How does pop music reflect peoples’ opinions and the fads of a time?

•What could the music of the decade tell you about the every day life of teenagers during the 1950’s?

•You will hear many sounds as you listen to the 1950s music. Turn your paper sideways to write the definition of each sound as they come up on the screen.

•Mr. Bass Man Sounds the 1st note to start harmony. Keeps the beat - timing.•Falsetto Usually the lead

singer. Sings above the male register.•Doo-Wop Singing in 3 to 5 part

harmony that started with informal street corner a capppella singing groups in major cities. 1956 - “In the Still of the Night”- The Five Satins•Sax The saxophone solo was very

popular in 1950s music.•Drumbeat A basic, driving drumbeat is always used in this music.•Guitar Used the 50s chord

progression to create the structure of the song.
