International Society of Blood Transfusion 18th Congress, Munich, July 22-28,1984 The 18th congress of the International Society of Blood Transfusion will be held in Munich from July 22 to 28, 1984. The congress is being organized in colla- boration with the German Society for Blood Transfu- sion and Immunohaematology. The scientific programme ofthe congress will cover topics in the field ofblood transfusion and immunohae- matology. Special emphasis will be given to new devel- opments in molecular biology, to the application of cell separators in clinical medicine and to automation and data processing in blood banking. The meeting will also provide an opportunity to discuss various problems in immunogenetics, including HLA serology, as well as recent advances in the preservation of blood cells. The special relationship between blood transfusion services and haemophiliacs will be underlined by several sym- posia organized in conjunction with the World Feder- ation of Haemophilia. Symposia, free communications and poster sessions will be held simultaneously. Abstracts of accepted pa- pers (including abstracts of posters) will be listed in the programme and published in a book. A special form for abstracts will be distributed with the final announce- ment which will be mailed in the autumn of 1983. The official language of the Congress will be Eng- lish.
