RELIGIOUS EDUCATION 769-0030 X 123

Mary, the Mother of God (Theotokos)

Mary, Our Blessed Mother Mary is our example of a life devoted to Christ; an inspiration for all of us. She was a woman of faith. Mary experienced the joys, uncertainties, hopes, dreams, fears and struggles of human life as we do. This New Year let us as Catholics resolve to pray that this world will make Christ the center and the heart of all our lives. Mary trusted in God; she wants us to do the same. By doing so, we receive His gift of peace. Let us ask Mary to help us when we pray for peace in our hearts, in our homes and in the world because then we pray we will ALL embrace a true and active faith and trust in Christ and can really wish each other a HAPPY NEW YEAR! Reminders

Religious Education classes resume on Wednesday, January 4, and Thursday, January 5. Family/Children’s Mass

Sunday, January 29, 2017 – 9:30 a.m.

As a new year begins, we hear first an ancient blessing that continues into our day, offering protection, grace, and peace. Furthermore, we hear that the God of blessing has adopted us as children by sending the Spirit into our hearts, allowing us to call God Abba, Father. Celebrating Christmas is like throwing a rock into a pond and watching the ripples that flow out from it. Christmas Day focuses on the gift of Jesus, true God, true man. The Feast of the Holy Family reminds us how the Christ event impacts the family, enabling it to be holy. Today we celebrate Mary, the Mother of God and of the Church. The Church continues to learn from Mary how to bring Christ into the world. Today’s Gospel again presents Mary as one who reflects, who ponders what others tell her. The shepherds brought her the angel’s message about the child: He is the Savior born for all people. It is the work of the Church and all its members to reflect on this mystery and witness to it in the world. What can Mary teach you about her Son?

The Priests, Deacon and Staff of Holy Rosary Church wish you a Holy and Happy New Year.

The Rectory Office will be closed on Monday, January 2nd.

THANK YOU!

Dear Friends,

As we celebrate these “12 days of Christmas,” please know of my gratitude for all that you have done for Holy Rosary Parish. So many thoughtful friends sent cards or made calls to the Rectory as well as gifting us with all sorts of Christmas goodies. It was very much appreciated! We thank and acknowledge our loyal volunteers from the Rosary Altar Society and the Holy Name Society who were so generous with their time in decorating the Church, and our Altar Servers, Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Ushers and Greeters for their service. The choirs, under the direction of Marie McCarthy and Elaine Curzio, and our guest musicians deserve special thanks for their extraordinary efforts to make our Christmas liturgies so special. To all who remembered loved ones in the flower memorials and spiritual bouquet cards, please know of our gratitude and prayers for you and those whose intentions were included. And finally to all our parishioners and those who visited Holy Rosary this year, thank you for your generous support of our parish community. May the Lord Himself be your reward for the sacrifices you have made this year.

For Fr. Peter, Fr. Collins, Deacon Richard and myself, may the grace and peace of the Infant Savior bless your hearts and homes now and throughout the new year.

Christmas blessings,

Fr. John Fraser

Next weekend the second collection is for Catholic University and Catholic Communications—reaching homes and hearts and serving the educational needs of Church as well as nation. Please be generous.
