DESCRIPTION

The practice of regional anesthesia continues to develop in the interest of improving quality patient care. Practitioners need to maintain their skill sets while learning new techniques and remaining current on developments in the subspecialty. This program provides a forum for discussion of current concepts in regional anesthesia while giving attendees the opportunity to learn from regional anesthesia experts during small hands-on workshops—an ideal format and setting for acquiring new knowledge, enhancing skills and exchanging best practice information.

• Demonstrate skill sets in the performance of basic and advanced blocks, including catheter placement and ultrasonography

• Specify how to incorporate regional techniques to advance patient care, safety and timely or earlier discharge

• Enhance practice based upon an improved understanding of anatomy• Utilize best practice information on regional anesthesiology and pain

medicine topics• Weigh the advantages of continued use of catheters in the age of

long-acting adjuvants• Identify effective risk management strategies
