Invitation
Berlin, May 2013
This year the Wirtschaftsrat celebrates its 50-years jubilee. In order to address the tremendous challenges like the EU debt and fi nancial crises, the turnaround in energy policy and the de-mographic change, a strong social market economy is more im-portant than ever today. Therefore the Presidium and the Board have chosen the following keynote topic for 2013 Economic Con-ference:
A Strong Europe – A Bright Future for GermanyThe Economic Conference will open with a keynote speech about the future of the Euro by the President of the European Central Bank, Mario Draghi. Followed by a presentation of the important key points for a sustainable and secure energy by the EU-Com-missioner Günther Oettinger. Further contributors of the open-ing session will be Peter Terium, Chairman of the Executive Board, RWE AG, Ullrich Grillo, President of the Federation of Ger-
man Industries (BDI), and Jürgen Fitschen, Co-Chairman of the Management Board, Deutsche Bank AG. Besides the Federal Min-isters, Peter Altmaier MdB and Prof. Dr. Johanna Wanka, our top-class panel discussions will bring together high level politicians, business executives and representatives of major associations.
The evening session will be opened by the Vice-President of Spain, Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría, who will give a short report about the current reform agenda of her country. In recognition of his stability-oriented and economic reform policy we will award the Ludwig Erhard Memorial Coin in Gold to the Prime Minister of The Netherlands, Mark Rutte. As in past years, the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Angela Merkel MdB, will hold the closing keynote speech.
We look forward to your attendance and active involvement in the discussions at the 2013 Economic Conference.
