Head over to Google and enter the following search string “incoming search terms.”
Find a page that has list of incoming search terms. Make a list of the search terms and use them as
seed keywords in Google’s Keyword Planner. Then, hit “get ideas” and navigate over to the
“keyword” ideas tab. You will then see a list of long tail keyword ideas along with the competition level.
Focus on long tail keyword variations with a low to medium competition level.

• Another way to find a boat load of long tail keyword ideas is to leverage the Google Adwords paid search terms report.
• Once again, you’ll be able to see a list of the exact search terms people used to find your paid ads.

Open up your Adwords account and select an ad group related to the keywords you are researching
Next, select the “Keywords” tab.Hit “all search terms” from the “details”
dropdown.You will see a report listing all the search queries

• Google’s Keyword Tool is the most popular tool when it comes to keyword research
• However, many marketers and small business owners fail to use the tool to its full potential.

Head over to the Google Keyword planner and enter the URL of one your competitor’s landing pages into the “your landing page” field
Hit “get ideas.”Now, you will see a completely different list of

• Even with Google’s recent “not provided” keyword encryption, you can still use Google Analytics to find some great seed keywords.

Log into your Google Analytics account and navigate to the “Acquisition” tab.
Select “keywords” and then “organic.” The majority of the keywords will display as “not
provided”, however Google Analytics will still return additional long tail search terms users have entered to find your site.
Further, do a Google search with this search term and enter the URLs of the sites ranked on the first page back into the “landing page URL” field in the Google Keyword Planner.
This report is great for identifying content weaknesses on your site. If you find a popular site search keyword, optimize a page on your site for that keyword

• SEMrush is great because unlike the other tools mentioned in this post, it allows you to see which keywords your competitors are ranking for.
• These keywords are practically impossible to uncover anywhere else.

Head over to SEMrush and enter your competitor’s home page URL into the search box at the top of the page.
SEMrush allows you to filter results by country. Click search and take a look at the “organic
keywords” data. The keywords overview will give you a list of the top
5 keywords your competitor is ranking for. To get more results , click the “view full report” button and you’ll get a list of all the keywords your competitor is ranking for
This report will give a bunch of long tail keyword ideas.

#6. Promediacorp Suggester Tool
• Promediacorp Suggester is a great way to scale Google’s “suggested keyword” results.
• When you enter a search query into Google you will see a list of suggested search terms

Head over to Promediacorp Suggester and enter a seed keyword
You will then see a comprehensive list of “suggested” long tail search terms
Pay close attention to the keywords with a higher degree of commercial intent.
Next, take the keywords and enter the into the Google Keyword Planner.
Check the “competition” and “suggested bid” metrics. The higher the competition and suggested bid, the higher the commercial intent the search term.

#7. Bing Keyword Research Tool
• The Bing Keyword Research tool is free, will suggest key phrases related to the terms you enter, and will indicate the search volume of those keywords.
• Bing gives you the number of actual organic search queries.

Log into your Bing Webmaster Tools account, hit the “Diagnostics and Tools” tab and select “Keyword Research.”
Now, enter a seed keyword into the “Keyword Research” box. You can also set the date range and country to filter the results.
Hit “search” and you will be given a list of additional keywords related to the original search query based on relevancy. Hover over the dollar sign symbol to get a look at the average CPC
Since Bing is a completely different search engine with a different user demographic, you will likely get some different long tail search variations.

• Google Trends will show you high volume keywords before they are available in the Google Keyword Planner.
• You can view a keyword’s popularity over a given time period and identify long tail keyword opportunities before your competitors get to them.

Head over to Google Trends and enter the keyword you’re targeting.
Interest over time is based on search volume and news headlines.
Now, take a look at the “related search terms” report. You will notice a few new keywords that weren’t shown in the Google Keyword Planner
Bonus Tip: Hit the “rising” button to filter the results by keywords showing a spike in search volume. Get a head start on the competition.

• Every time you enter a query into Google you will see a section at the bottom of the page called “searches related to…”
• You will often find some great long tail keywords with high commercial intent.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and see which terms are related to that keyword.

• If you want to find long tail search terms your competitors are missing, check out Soovle.
• This is a free tool that delivers keyword suggestions from Amazon, Wikipedia, YouTube, Google Suggest, Bing and a number of others.

Head over to Soovle and enter one of your target keywords.
Hit “Soovle.” Now, you will see a list of suggested search terms
from some of the major search engines: You can see, each website returns a different set of
suggested search terms. Bonus Tip: Click one of the results and you’ll be taken
to the search results page for that term. This will show you which competitors are ranking for the keyword and how they targeting the keyword in their content marketing/ SEO strategy.

• Übersuggest is another free tool that scrapes keywords from Google Suggest.
• You get a ton of long tail keyword ideas from this tool. Many of the terms won’t make sense, but occasionally you’ll unearth some golden nuggets.

Head over to Übersuggest and enter one of your seed keywords, fill out the captcha and hit “suggest.”
The tool returns 230 long tail keywords. This tool append terms corresponding with each
letter of the alphabet to the end of the seed keyword.
Simply click on the “plus” icon next to a term you’d like to add to your master list.
Head over to the right sidebar and click “get.” You will see a pop up with your list of keywords. Copy
and paste these terms into your master list.

• KeywordTool.io is another fantastic free tool that you can use to uncover a boat load of long tail keywords.
• The tool will generate up to 750 suggestions for every keyword you enter. You can export the results.
