Sarah Webb 11-19-10 Teacher Cadet
Today was my eighth day as a teacher cadet. As normal I thoroughly enjoyed my day
with my students and will be very sad to leave them in a few weeks. Today was a Friday so the
students had PE for the second time this week. I think PE is all their favorite activity to go to. It
was always mine whenever I was in elementary school. Since they go to PE thirty minutes
earlier than they go to any other activity during the week they go to the library directly after
and listen to the librarian talk about something different every week. While they were gone to
this, me and Miss Robbins went and made copies of some pictures of mugs for the kids to do
some winter based writing on. After that we went to get the children from the library. To my
complete surprise Miss Robbins looked at me and said she was going to the office and to get
the students lined up, take a bathroom break, and then go back to the classroom and she would
meet us there. My first thought was to panic. I didn’t think there was any way that I was going
to be able to keep up with 23 third graders. But I did. Thankfully these kids are some of the
most well behaved I have ever met so that helped me out a lot. As they came out of the library I
told one girl and one boy to gather everyone’s library books and go ahead and take them to the
classroom and then I told another girl to take everyone’s library cards up. Then together we all
walked to the bathroom. They already had a drill in place on how to use the bathroom so this
went very smoothly thanks to them. After that we all walked back to the classroom and they
got their books out on their own and got ready for whatever was supposed to come next. Once
Miss Robbins got back everything was all ready for her to begin teaching again. I left right after
she got back so I didn’t get to watch her teach history but hopefully I will be able to stay a little
longer next week and get to see this.
