The New York Jets fell to the Chicago Bears 10-0 in a defensive struggle at the Meadowlands on Sunday, November 19, 2006.

Although the Jets produced 156 yards (91 rushing, 65 passing) on offense in the first half, they were unable to find their way into the end zone. The Jetsdefense kept the Bears out of the end zone in the first half by holding Bears quarterback Rex Grossman to only seven passing yards on five completions.

In a scoreless first half, only the second in the NFL this season, the Jets were led by linebacker Victor Hobsons five tackles and safety Kerry Rhodes threetackles and a sack. Rhodes picked up his fourth sack of the season when he dropped Grossman for an eight yard loss late in the second quarter, leadingto the Bears fourth punt of the half.

Tim Dwight recorded the Jets longest run of the season on a 28-yard end around in the first half, he also hooked up with quarterback Chad Pennington on

a 15-yard pass completion. Pennington completed the first half with 65 yards on seven-of-11 passing.

After Chicagos Chris Harris recovered a Jets onsides kick at the NYJ 44 to open the second half, the Bears marched down to the Jets two-yard line beforebeing forced to kick a 20-yard field goal by Robbie Gould to take the lead 3-0.

The battling Jets continued to hold the Bears offense through the remainder of the third quarter; however Grossman connected with wide receiver MarkBradley on a 57-yard catch and run that would be the final score of the afternoon.
