“This year I entered the National Corn Growers Association’s Corn Yield Contest.

I ended up with a rst place win in Kansas’ non-irrigated corn division, and I did

it with a Great Plains Twin-Row Planter. The reason I decided to make the move

rom thirty inch to twin row was to try to take away the competition between

the plants and to spread out the root system and stalks. I wanted to plant as

many plants per acre and get as many harvestable ears or the acre as I could.

We are pushing thirty thousand plus on dry land. You just can’t do that on a

thirty-inch conguration and expect everything to thrive. That’s why I chose

twin row and that’s why I am still using it six years later.”

Great Plains Air-Pro® Meters take singulation

nd spacing accuracy a step beyond what

s oered in the industry today. Our Air-Pro Meters load seed in the seed disc with

pressurized air. As the seed rotates, it enters

he brush area where the air is cut o. Without

he air ow, the seed is mechanically held

n the seed disc until it is “dead dropped”

directly into the Clear-Shot® Seed Tube. This

esults in consistent “dead” seed drop, unlike

ompetitive vacuum meters that have “early”

nd “late” release, which aects spacing.

Air ow is provided to each unit by a single

hydraulically driven an. The rst priority

o the an is to maintain a consistent meterpressure, and is regulated by the IntelliAg™

Controller. Air ow not used to maintain

meter pressure is diverted to bulk seed

delivery. This extremely ecient system

equires only 9 gallons per minute (15 GPM

max.) o hydraulic ow to operate the an

on a 16-row twin-row-equipped planter. On

olding models, air ow is provided by a single

8" hydraulically driven an, while on 4-, 6-, and

8-row planters, a 6" an is used to pressurize

he meter and the seed is gravity ed.

Static cling can ruin good metering, so Great

Plains Meter Wheels use specially ormulated

injection molded polymers that greatlyreduce static electricity. Composite brushes

have interwoven metal bristles to remove

any latent traces o static cling. This allows

the seed to drop rom the pocket at the

same place every time. Changing seed discs

is eortless: simply unsnap the composite

rain cover and twist the center locking knob

one-eighth turn to release the seed disc. Air-

Pro Meters are designed with durable seed

brushes that can be easily serviced by turning

the two quarter-turn latches with a common

at blade screw driver.

The Great Plains Air-Pro Meter System has

also been designed to operate at higher

ground speeds than the competition. The

large 11" diameter meter wheels turn at

approximately 20 rpm when planting twin-

row corn. The Clear-Shot Seed Tube has also

been redesigned to not only remove any

obstructions inside the seed tube, but has had

the curvature adjusted to provide a dead drop

at 5.5 mph. Other brands are designed or

speeds o 3.8 to 4.2 mph.

Despite their size, these 30' and 40' units

have the dependability and exibility to

handle any terrain.

YP-30s and YP-40s are equipped with a

choice o opener styles: 10HDP SeriesOpeners or 7½" wheat and 10" soybeans;

20P Series Openers with side depth

gauging wheels that can plant on 8" or 10"

row spacings; or 25 Series Openers, which

can be positioned or row spacings o 10",

15", 15" even, 20", 30", or 36", including

the option o Twin-Row 30" or 36". Our

10HDP Series Opener can be purchased

in either 7 1/2" or 10" row spacings and
