In order to maximize the effectiveness of your website, it’s crucial that you try to increase website traffic.

Without traffic, there is no point of having a website!

Organic SEO traffic is the most targeted traffic you can possibly get, hands down.

Check out this list of the most important SEO strategies you should have in place.



1. VALUABLE CONTENT

Make sure your website has valuable content.

Be unique. If you stand out from the rest, people will remember you and you will stick out like a sore thumb (in this case, that’s a good thing!).

People search the internet for information, right? Teach them something and have answers to their questions just waiting to be found when they enter their search query into Google.

Capture attention ABOVE THE FOLD. This is the area people see when they first click onto your website before they have to scroll down. You have a couple of seconds to do this! Same goes for landing pages, by the way.



2. FOCUS KEYWORDS

Make sure to have a focus keyword. If your post is about getting traffic, pick a keyword related to that!

Put the keyword in your URL.

Put the keyword within the first 20-25 words of the first paragraph.

Put the keyword in the last paragraph.

Put the keyword throughout the article every 100 words or so.

Use some variations of the keyword as well.



3. RESEARCH

Do research to find the best possible keyword for your post.

Go to Google keyword planner tool and research keywords that get searches.

Type those potential keywords into Google and see how many results it gets.

If it gets more than one million, it may be harder to rank. You can get over one billion results for extremely competitive keywords! Unless you’re a SUPER expert, stay away! Stick with one with one million or less results and you will rank fast provided you take advantage of every one of the steps in this document.

Type the keyword into Google in “quotations” to see only web pages that have that EXACT keyword phrase instead of a combination of all the words in your keyword phrase.



4. MAKE IT FLOW

You can no longer stuff the heck out of your article with keywords and expect not to be slapped by Google.

Googles new algorithm likes articles that flow naturally and make perfect sense, with easy readability.

Use Yoast Wordpress plugin to gauge all of these statistics.

Create interesting, useful posts. Google only wants high quality content worth posting on their first pages.



5. SIMPLICITY

Keep your website simple.

People will be scared away by a cluttered, chaotic website.

Maximize the potential for repeat visitors.

Make sure your site is organized, clean and easy to navigate.

People don’t realize how important this is! It’s not all about the aesthetics of your website, it’s about what’s on it that’s important.



6. KEYWORD FORMATS

Use keyword in image alt tags.

Make keyword Italic.

Make keyword bold.

Put keyword in quotations.

Make keyword into a link (link to the same post or related post on your website).

Note: You don’t have to do this to every keyword. Make sure you have a nice balance.



7. SEARCH ENGINE SUBMISSION

Submit your site to Google, Bing, Yahoo, and all other major search engines.

Submit your sitemap which has all of your pages and posts on it.

If you forget to do this, you will never rank because you will never even show up in the search engines!



8. RE-PURPOSE

After you write a post, don’t call it quits. Get the most out of it. Don’t do this word for word though. Change it up a bit.

Create a video out of the post and upload it to YouTube.

Create a PowerPoint out of the post and upload it to SlideShare.

Create a PDF out of the post and upload it to doc sharing sites.

Create a small tweet linking back to your post.

Summarize your post on Facebook with a link back to it!

Change it up a bit and submit your post as an article on Article directories (you may have to take links out but put them in your author box.



STATISTICS

Keep an eye on the statistics of your site.

For all of your links, use a tracker like Bitly to see how many clicks your links get (Wordpress does do this as well).

Use Google Analytics for great statistics.



10. UPDATE FREQUENTLY

Google loves fresh content!

Keep adding new and useful content to it to keep your visitors coming back to see what else you have to offer them.

Rank for as many keywords as you can with unique articles on each one.

The more content you have on your site, the easier you will rank and the more repeat traffic you will get.

The more content you have to offer, the longer people stay on your site.
