Guadalupe Regional Medical Center • $100 million renovation and expansion that doubled the
hospital’s size• Grand Opening Late 2010
Sysco Foods • Building a 658,000 SF distribution center that will employ
600 people• This $90 million investment should be completed in late
2011
New Braunfels Rehabilitation Hospital Taking Shape• The new Ernest Health Rehab Hospital continues to shape up
as the newest health care facility in New Braunfels. This hospital has unique rehab services. It opened in September 2011 and employs over 100
The Ranch at 123• This 180 unit apartment complex opened in May 2011 with
90% occupancy rate,
YMCA• 38,000 SF Recreation Center• Opened early 2010
Golden Corral Brightening the Neighborhood• Golden Corral, located in front of Kohl’s on IH 35, is taking
shape as New Braunfels’ newest restaurant. Built to serve 150 at a time, the building has an attractive exterior that will appeal to all eager restaurant goers. The food establishment opened in April 2011 and provides jobs for 130.
Retail Growth• In the past few months, several new retailers and restaurants
opened operations in Seguin• Texas Shine, Verizon Wireless, Sweet Treats, Sister Susie,
Grand Buffet…Just to name a few
Schertz Library• Brand new 30,000 SF state of the art library opened in late
2009
Creekside Cinemax 14 Screen Theatre• The new multi-screen theatre opened in January 2011 with
an open house movie night and free concessions. High back stadium seating, along with HD and surround sound make this movie experience pleasurable. It also touts 3D viewing capabilities as well.
Caterpillar-Texas Power Systems• Plant began operations in June 2010 and currently employs
over 1100 people• Will employ 1465 workers within two more years
Schertz Parkway Professional Plaza • 58,000 SF office facility valued at $12 million and will house
200 medical professionals
Longhorn Café • The new Longhorn Grill opened in late February 2011 in the
Westpointe Center. A fare of burgers and fries, chicken, and Mexican cuisine tempt those living in the Highway 46 West area
Walnut Branch Linear Park• Three Phase Park that will run along Walnut Branch Creek• First Phase is in Seguin’s Downtown and opened in May 2011
Interstate 35• With traffic counts of over 90,000 vehicles per day, many
businesses look to locate on the I-35 corridor
Longhorn Steakhouse• This new restaurant located at Creekside opened for business
in late January 2011. It is a full service restaurant.
State Highway 130• Will connect Seguin directly to Austin• To be completed late 2012
Hike and Bike Trails• Expansive hike and bike trails are provided along major and
minor thoroughfares
Goodwin Lane• The widening of Goodwin Lane from FM 306 east toward
Orion are moving closer to completion. This is part of a 4B project to improve the roadway for larger and additional traffic serving the 55 acre Koontz McCombs Industrial Park located on Goodwin Lane. The $1.5 million project was completed in June 2011.
Continental Automotive Systems• Largest Retention Project in Texas for 2009• Retained 500 employees and created an additional 600
Caterpillar• October 2010, Caterpillar announced they will be bringing a
Caterpillar plant to Schertz• The plant will produce parts for the CAT plant in Seguin and
will employ 65 people with the possibility of future expansion
Wurstfest Halle• New hall on Wurstfest grounds to commerate 50th
anniversary• Wurstfest draws over 150,000 people a year to the annual
event.
Remarkable Healthcare• Brand new assisted living facility with 90 rooms.
Republic National Distributing Co.• Recently named the 2nd largest privately owned firm in San
Antonio MSA
