1. National programme co-ordination on educational research
TLRP intends to co-ordinate a bid under the ERA-NET scheme
national and regional research programme collaborators
other European institutions like CEDEFOP can also participate.
Sixth Framework Programme aim to support
networked activity:
• co-ordination of national programmes across countries
• development of new parallel activities.
Twin track: Network of Excellence and ERA-NET proposals.
ERA-NET aims to:• stimulate interaction between national learning
research programmes• achieve broader and deeper trans-national and
trans-disciplinary research co-operation• exemplify international co-operation and
interdisciplinarity.
Possible research areas for co-operation to add value to national research:
• re-interpretation of work-related learning • re-interpretation of lifelong learning• the use of ICT to enhance learning• ….. other ideas……
Re-interpretation of work related learning
• Co-configured work: how to develop new ways of working
• Emerging needs of learning in work-based settings
• Intra- and inter-organisational learning • Motivation and commitment in early and
late career
• Designing work-related learning and assessment to facilitate life-long learning.
Re-interpretation of Lifelong Learning
• Initial education and training and qualifications systems need to take cognisance of the importance of developing a positive attitude towards lifelong learning
• Development of 'learning careers' over the life-course
• Crossing boundaries between institutional and non-institutional learning
• Transformation of approaches to learning
• The meaning of the social and cultural context of learning
• The significance of 'transfer' in learning
• Learning as empowerment.
2. Activities to be undertaken within ERANET:
• initiatives to facilitate the building of integrated research projects
- thematic research co-operation - comparative research
• joint cross-national workshops and conferences with a focus on
- identifying urgent needs of learning research- promoting social cohesion in different cultural
contexts- comparison of research result- identifying best national practices- innovation dissemination to national and
international stakeholders- policy level influence/initiatives
• researcher exchange, especially training of young researchers
• establishing plans for dissemination and research impact
• emphasising the role of learning in formation of European Research Area and European Knowledge Society.
3. Activities to be undertaken for bid in June 2003
• preparation of detailed proposal for ERA-NET bid
• forging strong links at the programme level
• getting individual or groups of research projects to co-operate
• set-up some international workshop activities.
