Set Test Plan for UE

1. Voice call

Test Plan Configuration Before Test

Suggestion: When testing voice call, do not perform PS dialup on the Modem of the

outgoing UE manually. Otherwise, voice call maybe hangs up abnormally.

The UE that is performing PS services can serve as an incoming UE for Voice Call

or Video Phone test. Thus, the CS and PS concurrent test can be performed on the

same UE.

Page 25: 09 Introduction to GENEX Probe (Ver1.4)

Test Plan Configuration Before Test

Parameters for Voice Call:

1.1 Call type

Continuous Call: The call continues if it does not fail, drop, or hang up. If the call fails,

drops, or hangs up, Probe waits for a call interval to originate another call.

Call by Call: call: The call lasts and waits for the predetermined calling duration and call

interval, and repeats for the times defined in call count.

1.2 Setup time: the maximum time for call setup. If the call cannot be setup

within the defined period, the call setup fails.

1.3 Calling duration: the duration of one call, from call setup to call normal

release. (apply only to call by call)

1.4 Call interval: the time between two calls, from the previous call disconnection

to the beginning of the next call.

1.5 Exceptional Interval :The interval between the exceptional end of a call drop

and the beginning of the next call.

1.6 Count Mode: the limitations on the call number -> Finite / Infinite.

31

Parameters for Ftp Upload / Ftp Download:

Test Plan Configuration Before Test

4.7 Disconnection Mode: the mode of Disconnection, there are three choices:

Keep Disconnected: Do not perform PDP context deactivation ( remain RRC

connection) after the target files are loaded completely, just wait for interval time

then continue next ftp download test.

Disconnect By Time: Perform PDP context deactivation periodically. The period for

the PDP context deactivation is represented by the Valid FTP Duration parameter. If

the target files are not loaded completely within the predefined time, the loading

result shows timeout. Probe considers this loading as failure and initiates another

PDP context deactivation in the next loading.

Disconnect After Transfer Complete: Each time when the file load is complete, PDP

context deactivation would be performed.

FTP Upload:

Parameters are the same with FTP download’s. Probe will upload the local file to

the destination path automatically.

Make sure you have the authority to upload file before test.

Note:If False is selected in Auto Dialup, the connections on the signaling plane are

set up. The signaling includes RRC signaling, PDP context activation request, and PDP

context activation receive message. The service plane, however, is not established. In

such a situation, the PING service is not being connected.

If True is selected, the connections on both signaling and service planes are

established. That is, the PC <-> UE <-> CN channel is set up for dialup connection and

providing services.

Page 35: 09 Introduction to GENEX Probe (Ver1.4)

Supplements about APN, QoS Setting

a) If leave APN, QoS parameters blank

Probe won’t send the associated command to the UE if the parameters mentioned above

is not set, that is the UE’s former setting will be maintained.

b) Methods for setting APN、QoS and their correlationship

1) Set by AT command in MODEM initial command

2) Set by Probe in Test Plan

When both Probe and MODEM have APN and QoS information, because AT command in

MODEM initial command is send to UE more closely before PS connection setup, it will

replace the information send to UE by Probe. That is Probe’s setting doesn’t work if AT

command also exists in the MODEM initial command.

Supplement for HSDPA Link Statistic:

Parameter Window

1. Delta vs AverageDelta is the average value in 200ms.

Average is the average value from the beginning of stat. to the current time. You can choose to clear

the former stat. data. The values displayed by Assistant are all belong to Delta series.

2. Parameters about rateScheduled Rate = The total block size scheduled to the UE during stat. time / (Total time slot

scheduled to the UE * 2ms)

Served Rate = The total block size scheduled to the UE during stat. time / stat. time length

HS-SCCH Success Rate = time slot number scheduled to the UE during stat. time / total time slot

number during stat. time

When multi UEs share a HS-SCCH channel, they will share channel resource. So, HS-SCCH Success

Rate reflects the time ratio of a UE occupies HSDPA resource. The closer to 100% of total HS-SCCH

Success Rate from UEs who share a HS-SCCH channel, the better schedule performance the system

has.

Served Rate = Scheduled Rate * HS-SCCH Success Rate

Mac Layer Rate = Served Rate * (1- SBLER)

Supplement for HSDPA Link Statistic:

Parameter Window

3. IBLER, SBLER vs Res.BLER

IBLER is 1st MAC-hs error block /total 1st MAC-hs transmission blocks. IBLER

Target can be configured on NodeB. And it’s statistic value in Probe is 1st SBLER

in HSDPA Decoding Statistic Window.

SBLER is MAC-hs error block / total MAC-hs transmission blocks, IBLER target

configured on NodeB have an effect on SBLER, now the common value range of

SBLER is 10%~15%.

Res.BLER means remain BLER, which is within RLC layer. One transmission

block only after multi-times’ unsuccessful MAC-hs retransmission, will be

calculated as RLC layer error block, stat. to Res.BLER. Res.BLER is approximate

to 0 in normal instance.
